It reminded me a lot of Crash, but a little less confusing. It was a dark film, and the cast was pretty good. However, it was not very original.

Human drama we've seen many times before in many other forms, just not as far-stretched or lyrically. It's a movie that can move you, but ultimately it adds nothing new and it's deeply flawed. Too many things needed more attention as they were surreal, and many things could have ...( read more)been done differently.

Forest Whitaker is as good as he always is and I'm guilty to admitting that I actually liked Swayze's performance -an actor I have such contempt for. Jessica Biel is better than some Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but she's still quite talentless. The direction (among other elements) is tolerable, and is overall a movie that attempts to make you sympathetic and pitiful, more than it attempts to rejoice in the power hidden in the human heart.

A powerfully intense and emotionally enduring movie. A dark, compelling, beautifully depressing and truly unforgettable film that shines with originality and brilliance. A damn near perfect film thats written terifficly and superbly crafted. A deeply moving and heart-wrenching ch...( read more)aracter piece thats fuelled by an astonishing cast of amasing actors that all do an exceptional and wonderful job with their performances. Forest Whitaker is extroadinary, his best performance since The Last King Of Scottland. Jessica Biel gives an excellent and surprisingly satisfying performance. She not only shows she is a gorgious woman but shows here that she is pure leading lady material. Ray Liotta is incrediable, always knowing how to deliver a powerful and fearless performance.

I was actually very surprised about this movie. What a Cast, they were absolutely amazing. Interesting once again how they managed to somehow intertwine all the characters and make it work. They are all sooo talented and some of them actually kinda shocked me taking on that role....( read more) First and foremost Jessica Biel, I can't believe she got naked. "Every life has a breaking point"

Four Los Angelenos -- a mortician, an ex-con, a suicidal ex-priest, and a stripper -- are brought together on Christmas Eve by a mixture of circumstances.

Four desperate people drift together over Christmas. One a stripper with a little boy in a coma, another is an ex-con who looks for salvation, a mortuary worker faces foreclosure on his business and an ex-priest looks for someone to do a job for him. Well made and very well acted tale has plot lines that are so over done that they border on silly. Talk about stacking the deck, these people have enough going on for five years of soap operas. The cast almost sells the (overly) heartfelt emotion, but its just too much. How much of this would really happen to four people over a couple of days? My interest began to wander about a half an hour in because I felt that the film was manipulating things for no really good reason. I understand why the cast was drawn to the material since it allows them to dig in and chow down on the scenery. Its not a bad movie, its just an over done one.

Pretty good movie I gotta say. Great Acting from Jessica Biel and I think this was Patrick Swayze's last movie so it was glad to see him even though his role was less than his usual style.

Lexus is a transsexual prostitute who shares an unexpected bond with the priest.

Better than I thought it would be, for sure. Worth checking out if you're running low on new releases. :)

This is one tangled mess of a story. The plot is so boring, I nearly fell asleep.

Slow paced, didn't like the story line. The actors in it are some i really like though
