Predator wreaked havoc in the jungle and struck box-office gold, so Hollywood logic dictated that Predator 2 should raise hell in the big, bad city. Los Angeles, to be specific, and this...( read more  read more... ) near-future L.A. (circa 1997) is an ultra-violent playground for the invisibility-cloaked alien that hunted Arnold Schwarzenegger in the previous film. Scant explanation is given for the creature's return, and because Ah-nuld was busy making Total Recall, Danny Glover was awkwardly installed as the maverick cop (is there any other kind?) who defies a government goon (Gary Busey) to curtail the alien's inner-city killing spree. But why bother, when the victims are scummy Colombian drug lords? Don't look for intelligent answers; director Stephen Hopkins favors wall-to-wall action over sensible plotting, allowing Stan Winston's more prominently featured Predator to join the ranks of iconic movie monsters. And anticipating Alien vs. Predator in comic books and in theaters, there's a familiar-looking skull in the Predator's trophy case! --Jeff Shannon

Turned out to be a bad move to make a sequel for Predator. The plot sucked, the casting blew, and the acting gargled Danny Glover's Chocolate Salty Balls. Bill Paxton and Maria Conchita Alonso in the same room, ridiculously annoying. You went from Arnold to Danny Glover?? Gar...( read more)y Busey is great as always in the same role. Danny Glover?

A cheese burger without the burger but with extra cheese. I liked it but it's not a touch on the original.

Predator introduced one of the biggest bad-ass villains in movie history squaring off against one of the biggest bad-ass heroes in movie history, Arnold Schwarzenneger. It's only natural for Hollywood to make a sequel to a movie as awesome as Predator is.
Unfortunately, Predat...( read more)or 2 offers none of the fun of its predecessor. It takes place ten years after the jungle incident, in a futuristic Los Angeles overrun by street gangs. These gangs have cartoon personalities, typical for 80s B-movies. They're extremely annoying. In my opinion, they're too easy prey for the predator, and thus, it takes the fun out of the movie. Most of Predator 2 plays like a bad version of Aliens, complete with a team of agents disguising themselves in foil suits to trap the alien so they can study it. When will these guys learn? And to make matters worse, Arnold has been replaced by Danny Glover, whom I like as an actor, but here, all he does is yell and scream at his superiors amidst talking to himself about how he is going to personally kill the predator.
The action isn't particularly well filmed either. One particular scene in a subway train has so many flashing lights that it is more likely to induce a seizure rather than excitement. Other action scenes are poorly staged, haphazardly edited, or just outright boring.
Ultimately, Predator 2 is completely void of any imagination. This film is very by-the-numbers, copying other alien flicks that came before it. The only thing worth mentioning is the now legendary shot of the Predator's trophy room that showcases an Alien skull. I can only imagine the excitement an Alien/Predator fan would have felt seeing that skull. It would probably have made up for having to sit through an otherwise dull, unentertaining sequel.

Not as good as the original but the urban location, new look predator with new weaponary and amazing hold your breath action with an excellent ending leaves you wanting more hunting action.

While "Predator" is one of the greatest guilty pleasures of mine, I found "Predator 2" to be better picture in every department. Not that I expect anything serious from that kind of filmmaking, especially when they have 80's all over themselves. "Predator 2" still have the flavou...( read more)r of 80's but it looks better, flows better and doesn't give us a massive attack of laughter as "Predator" does.

So Danny Glover fights this charming, mysterious alien who spends most of time fighting the other spieces across the universe... Yes, at first, it surely looks like a joke. "C'mon, Danny Glover? The guy was funny in "Leathal Weapon 2" but this is a real deal, man...". Well, in a way, yes, but Glover has something of a everyman and his climaxic fight with Predator makes it all more entertaining. Everytime you put Schwarzenegger or Stallone, they just do the obvious. Not even that you know they will win, you know how they will win. Here? Well, I must say I was hooked. It is a fast, well-directed action flick and the Predator itself is presented much more interesting here. I guess maybe it's because the damn jungle quickly makes me bored. (Ever seen "Fitzcarraldo"? There you go.)

Couldn't they find someone who had rippling glamour muscles. Glover doesn't fit the profile, but he still managed to clear them vag faces out.

Predator wreaked havoc in the jungle and struck box-office gold, so Hollywood now decided that Predator 2 should raise hell in the big, bad city of Los Angeles. That's right - it's a near-future L.A. in 1997, the never-ending battleground of street gangs and drug lo...( read more)rds. And in the middle of the battle is the familiar extraterrestrial villain who lives to hunt its victims and is protected by an invisibility cloak. Though Schwarzenegger didn't return for this action-packed sequel, our newest hero - Danny Glover - is a cop who defies a government goon to fight the city's crime; his acting performance is as good as his predecessor's. And so does this film...I like it! Yes, I know there is a Alien vs. Predator crossover franchise, but I hear there's going to be a Predators coming to theaters in 2010, and it could be better than this one.

The first predator was a good action movie but the second one is almost completely different. Not only has the location changed but so have the actors. There are some good ones in there but overall this movie is very bad. The story is crap and the vulgar use of violence isnt out ...( read more)of place but it doesnt do anything to further the story other than to seal bad guys doom. The only marginally good part is the end where a battle takes place but even though that is filmed well the rest of the movie is so bad that most people would just turn it off before.

Predator 2 is my absolute favorite film! the only movie that has a chance about beating this score is AVP2 Requiem. hopefully they won't stuff it up like AVP 1, by the looks of the trailer it should be pritty awesome. yeah, predator 1 was cool too but it took a while to get to the killing! but once it got started, that was awesome!
