I would have rated this much highly if it was like the early nineties. I used to love it as a kid. I had the chance to watch it on tv last year or something and I was like oh maaaan, were we talking bout this in school all day? But then I was like 7 when I first watched it soooo?..It?s good for it?s time.
Oooohh... invisible aliens... what is there not to love??? Oh wait! The invisible aliens. They are disturbing and totally pointless. They made this movie so they could have more pointless action violence. Not really sure what the appeal is.
great sci-fi horror starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. predaror is imense and full of action. Arnold is great as always but in this movie he faces an unlikely opponent even more stronger and deadly than his weapons, and his whole Commando unit. one of the best sci-fi horror movies of the 1980's.
"Dutch" (Arnold Schwarzenegger) leads a group of commandos into a dense Central American jungle to rescue hostages, which they learn have been slaughtered by their captors. They find the butchered remains of one of the ones sent in to rescue the hostages. They capture a female captor after destroying the encampment, and killing the majority of the captors and begin the journey back to where they are to meet with the helicopters that would pick them up to leave the area.
It is then when they discover something is hunting them, something not from this Earth.
First off, this movie is VERY bloody and graphic, and should not be viewed by young or impressionable children unless it is on broadcast television and edited for content and language.
On the plus side, this movie is full of action. It also leaves little to no room for the audience to take a breath.
One big problem, like most movies in this genre, is that the ones who don't survive have very little development. Some, more than others, got developed simply because they last longer in the film.
In the special effects department, I am not a fan of the camouflage of the "Predator" (Kevin Peter Hall, who appears out of costume at the end of the movie in a cameo), to me it looked really bad. It could have added to the suspense if they didn't make it so visible to the audience. I am also not a fan of the heat-seeking visual effects for the shots meant to be from the "Predator's" point of view.
The other visuals were pretty good. The jungle scenes were a bit cramped at times, which limited some camera angles, but gave you a sense of the characters feeling trapped.
If you like action in your movies, then check out "Predator". But, in my opinion, this is not a science-fiction movie despite having an extra-terrestrial as the murderous creature. So, if you're a sci-fi fan, this movie might not be what you're looking for.
A classic action film; an Alien goes up against one of the toughest soldier the USA arm has ever had. Better than any of the Alien vs. Predator movies out there!
a classic due to the sheer amount of odds against it. every scene has immense potential to be ridiculous, and yet somehow, it fulfills that potential while retaining narrative tension. WHILE taking itself seriously.

I've been a fan of predator since i was a child! It's a great action packed movie,though Arnold was not a perfect actor on this roll but hey its a 1987 action movie right?
Really exciting action-thriller-monster movie. Leaves you on the edge of your seat, and once the villian shows it's face your in for a big surprise. Fans of Alien will love this film
This movie scared me to death when I first saw this movie very horrorable lol but it was great lol.
But now I been watching it over and over again, I really would like to see this movie to be re-done because the special effects are not great in the movie, thats why I liked AVP because the special effects on the Predators look great and now I want Predator movies to have that same graphics and speical effects

Another one of the greatest action movies ever. Arnold is yet again fantastic and Stan Winston's creation of The Predator is one of the coolest looking things to ever grace the silver screen.

Schwarzenegger stars in this incredible sci fi showdown against the universe's ultimate hunter! It's a brutal film from beginning to end, and the Predator looks ACE! One of the best Arnie films I've seen, and there's some great one liners in there too.
The origional and the best. Predator introduced us to Arnies full potential to use that broken accent while, fittingly and entertainingly, kicking the intestines out of everyone.
Even today its worth watching, because it didnt really need great special affects (overrated? You be the judge) to make it fun.
Action action and more action, plus a gnarly alien. One for the ages.
