Same old two-bit story of how a family gets separated while on some African safari and the second wife and the two kids from the previous marriage have to escape lions while the father is on a rampant search for his family by hiring the uncouth local whose love for lions explain why he's single. One and a half hours of (lion)bullshit. Not even some half-decent shots of the lions.
I was a bit shock when lions appear close-up in the scenes. Good thrilling and I can imagine what this movie is like Cujo meets The Ghost and the Darkness.
Tom Newman (Peter Weller) can?t join his family on their first African Adventure vacation due to urgent business obligations, but hopes the trip will provide a chance for his son and daughter to bond with his new young wife, Amy (Bridget Moynahan). Their ranger, Brian, decides to add some extra thrills and adventure to their trip and takes them "off roading." All is well until Amy and the 2 kids become lost in a labyrinthine game reserve and begin to be stalked by savage lions who won?t quit until they have dinner. The film is described as "Jaws in the African bush" and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final seconds.
Horror on safari. Haven't seen that before. Man hires disenchanted tracker to save family from ravenous lions. A bit suspenseful, but unspectacular and predictable. Kinda dumb how everyone but the clueless tourists dies.
UH!!! I've tried to watch this movie several times now, but I get such a headache from the stupid everything in this movie! Dad gets new wife, teenage daughter hates her (how typical) and there's a son who is 10 I think. Dad is working, so new mommy (Amy) decides to take the kids on a safari trip. Well, son (David) needs to take a dump, so he and the guide gets out of the car so he can do it in some bushes. COME ON!!!! Go to the frikkin' bathroom before going on a safari!!! take a dump by the car!!! Anyway, the guide gets slaughtered by a lion and the wife and kids tries to survive in the car. It's basically "Cujo in Africa".
Unrealistic, BORING and there's no suspension. You know they're going to make it and all they do is whine and complain about the situation. I gave up on the movie when 'new wife' gets the keys and manages to wreck the car. Stupid!
I think this film made a nice change.. Great story.. Scary lions. Quiet bloody. But natural. not 1001 special effects. I love effects. But was so nice to get a more real feel to a movie. Gets my vote Great...
They must have been the stupidest people on the planet to end up in that situation. Everyone with half a brain ended up eaten by lions and only the idiotic American family survived.
Great stuff, kind of like Jurassic Park but better and more believable, OK so the acting was half decent and there was some predicability from time to time but that didn't stop there being suspense, the cinematography was top notch with some really beautiful scenery, very enjoyable watch and would definatly recommend.
Who would have thought the writer/director of the terrific Oscar nominated film "Yesterday" (2004) would have made this routine horror film as his next project. The film is clichéd, predicable and devoid of any suspense or scares, which is a shame because it does have an idea that had some potential but alas it doesn't go further with it. However the acting from the cast was solid and the cinematography is beautifully done. Overall it is pretty so-so and not really worth recommending.
The wife seemed too calm when left in the car and i know she mightn't have been able to drive a manual or drive at all, but it isn't that hard to find the brake, it wasn't broken. They didn't look like they went that long without food, didn't look v starved. The last scene was good but i thought there could have been another closer with that but nevertheless it's an enjoyable movie.
do you know what i hate? a women and 2 kids trapped in a car a whole movie..lions eating people and hubby shows up and they just go walking??? can you say idiot fast enough??? totally unbelieveable..if they had better actors this film may have been something to really see (peter weller was great though)
I saw Primeval recently and it was a bit like this movie but more horror style and crocodiles instead of lions. Story shortly is that a family are visiting africa and gets attacked by lions etc.. This movie could have been better , story and acting.. Anyway i liked Primeval more then this one altho its watchable atleast for me.
an American family on a holiday in Africa becomes lost in a labyrinthine game reserve and is stalked by savage lions. see how death is hanging on head.
the 3.5 stars i give this one is all for its being an entertaining movie. The plot is too unrealistic. Decisions made by the characters are so dumb-- dunno if it's deliberate to show how ppl can become stupid and irrational under such circumstances.
