Not as good overall as the BBC miniseries in 1995, but a better adaptation than I'd thought it would be. And while Jennifer Ehle did a great job in that one, I like that Keira Knightley played Elizabeth with less ebullience to her mischieviousness. I wasn't nuts about Matthew McFadyen as Mr. Darcy at first, I did warm to him throughout the course of the movie. He's no Colin Firth, though. And Donald Sutherland as Mr. Bennet was brilliant casting. I also liked the very last scene, which was unexpected and sweet.
I am not a huge fan of Keira Knightley at all. Something about her acting bothers me. But I was able to fall in love with this movie because I love this story so much and I think every bit of the movie is great. It is one I can watch over and over.
great movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deffinitely a movie worth watching over and over and over and over again. Get the poin? it is clean wonderful romance. Who can beat that? I love this movie
This is the first book-made-into-a-movie I've seen that is actually almost or even just as good as the book is. It stuck to the book and didn't leave any important details out.
AHHH I BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY!!!!! <3 and so mush Drama, the dances look fun XD, the dresses are soo lovely, the land-epace is really beautiful, this moive is really awsome, the mother is werid (sorry if i upset anyone sorry), and the Governess'hair looked like it's got stuck y lighting (again sorry if i upset anyone, and I'm from a British bloodline) some part are really funny, the music and the art are wonderful, Really great Love story =3
I didn't read the novel however I've found the story wonderfull . It is a love story that is built up between two different people form different social classes ! It is ever so romantic when he express his feelings towards her in the rain , however she doesn't accept them ! The story ends in a very different way as they are together !
what a soap!..haha..well but is very, very entertaining for the kind of movie..of course Keira is the best..and doing what she knows best..being the same stubborn Elizabeth..i wonder if she can pull a different role?...
Im a huge fan of Jane Austen stories and I loved this adaptation. fDespite the fact of having a charming older version, who nobody will forget... I still think this one has charm of its own, the locations, the photography and the musicalization are very very good!
And I can't deny I like this Mr Darcy very much too!
By far, my most favorite film version of the story. Previous versions seemed to me to be romaticised versions of both the story and the time. This one had a more realistic approach.
The most exciting thing that happens in Jane Austen novels is that a new neighbor moves in. That's what I always said about those books and I still stand to that after this movie. However, I was still pleasantly surprised. The movie is extremely beautifully filmed, a few shots of nature almost took my breath away. The cast is well picked, Knightley does a good job, so does MacFadyen as a wonderfully awkward Darcy, but the winner is Donald Sutherland as grumpy but lovable father. So while the plot is well known and not exactly full of highlights the movie flows nicely, is amusing, sweet, romantic. No regrets here, not bad at all.
This film was excellent. The rich colours of that time finally picked up in an artistic and creative filming. Never seen anything like this one, so to the top it goes. Great acting.
I haven't seen this type of movie in awhile and I must say I quite enjoyed it. If I had to curtsy as much as they did, I think my knees would be sore. It's a good movie, I bet the book is even better. If you happen upon it, I don't think you'd mind watching it.
Fantastic "Pride" and Fantastic "Prejudice"!
Very enjoyable adaptation of the great Jane Austen book. It is absolutely one of my favorites. Great cast, pleasantly suprised by Keira Knightley! (I Love Her!) Also Great locations and sets and Soundtracks!
Keira Knightly is so graceful and beautiful in this movie! She helps make the movie shine, Joe Wright works magnificently with Keira Knightley as his brush he is able to make a masterpiece.
And the scene in the rain just takes my breath away!
