I love this adaptation for these basic reasons:
1)It's the most faithful adaptation that's done in the time period of the book
2)Colin Firth IS Mr. Darcy. Period. Paragraph. End of Story.
3)the wet shirt says it all
4)the score is beautiful
5)a lot of love went into making it.
It's the standard by which all Regency time period Pride and Prejudice movies will be measure (although the book is the true measure of gold).
This is like the best romanric movie ever I love love love this movis nomatter how many times I watch it I cant get enough. I love Mr Darcy the scene where he reveals his love gives me the chills. The remake wasnt that good I think It was ok but nothing like this this is exactly like the book. Far more better. Alwayts puts me in a good mood
I am absesed with this movie! the actors are fantastic! I've seen it 50 times in 3 months, I have the screen savor, i've read the book, I have Darcy's diary! what else can i say?....oh and I own the movie, and see it ones a week or read Darcy's Diary so that I can still see it in my mind.
I agree, I think the casting was excellent. The new one, while decent in its own right, has got nothing on this version.
Yes, her boobs do look big, but she's a pretty big busted woman in the first place.
Yeah, Mr Darcy was excellent.
But the entirety of the casting was quite impressive to begin with.
The newer one was... odd. I liked it, but it didn't really make a whole lot of sense at times. I.e, the mountaintop shot, and the 5 minute naked statue scene.
And is it just me or do her boobs look ginormious in the covershot?
It is true that Collin Firth is the only Mr. Darcy, and that NOBODY can replace him! When I saw this movie I fell in love with it, and Mr. Darcy.
Colin Firth = Mr. Darcy is what I call a fairly rare instance of PERFECT CASTING. Oh God, I'm in love and I mean in LOVE with this mini-series!
After watching both versions, I still think this one is better than the new one with Kiera and the othe guy. (forgot his name).
some say that firth was miscast, those that says so definitely haven't read the book. Firth was born for that role.
