Edward Norton steals the show with a debut Oscar nomination in this exhilarating part crime flick part courtroom drama. Richard Gere wasn't bad either and the overall casting is pretty slick, much like the film itself.

Wow!When i saw this movie i was astonished. The story is great and unpredictable. This was Edward Norton debut and his performance was unbelievable, one of the best performances i have ever seen.Richard Gere was good but Edward Norton steals the show:)It is not typical court drama
Don't believe everything you see... -

Brilliant and intense movie. The 2 hours of this movie fly by because there is never a dull moment. Edward Norton = top notch in this film... it's definitely one of his best. The rest of the actors were great too. I usually get bored with "Law and Order" type films such as this, but this one was different. It stood out so much to the point that it caught MY attention and kept a hold of it. Which keeping a hold of my attention is definitely hard to do, so that should say a lot about this film.
Also, what made me love this film was how it ended...
Fantastic. <3 -
Similar courtroom drama to Fracture.Edward Norton is amazing in this. This film is a very good watch with a nice twist at the end.

I just re-watched this after a few years and was reminded what an awesome movie it really is...... Edward Norton is just amazing, what a performance!! This is a must see film.
-
Good countroom movie, with a clever script and the great performance by Edward Norton, but I was expecting something more from the movie, but it was a good option to kill the time.
Primal Fearīs twist was unexpected and the mocie was worth of watch. -
Gotta love Laura Linney, Edward Norton, a great script adapted from a fearsome novel. Frances McDormand almost shines, isn't given enough chance, in my opinion, having read the book.
-
As much as I don't like Gere I absolutely love Norton...
This is a clever story and Norton completely steals it. One moment you want to kick his ass and the next you want to hold him - very clever indeed! -

I gave it an extra half-star because, without Edward Norton, the film would a middle-of-the-road, courtroom drama that could've been a storyline for The Practice. (It's better in it's written form.) Neither Richard Gere, nor Laura Linney (the two headliners), made me sit up and listen, but Norton did. His role is so eerily convincing that when you get to the finale, it's like someone has stuck a chord out for you to trip on. Again, nicely, McDoramand makes subtlety into an art form.

Edward Norton gives a tremendous performance as Aaron/Roy and steals the movie under Richard Gere and Laura Linney's veteran (at the time) noses.
-
Edward Norton's performance here was amazing. This should have given him the Oscar. CGJr beat him because of Jerry Maguire. No... that doesn't compute.
-
fantastic movie!
i loved it so much, especially the ending.
edward norton's performance is what saved a rather average film. -
Ed Norton was amazing! Honestly for one of his first pieces it was brilliant! I loved the ending and didnt guess it at all. Norton was brilliant!
-
Edward Norton is unbelievable in this. I highly recommend the book because it gets a lot deeper into his character's past.
-
This movie is actually pretty gripping, and Edward Norton certainly announced his arrival with his debut performance here. The movie's mystery is also fairly compelling.
-
I kept kicking myself over and over again for not having seen this film. An excellent performance, by Norton. I was surprised by this film.
-
I just rewatched this movie, becuase I had spent a couple of months lending it out so all of my friends would watch it.
I had forgotten how amzing it is. Well, how amazing Edward Norton is.
I mean...truly his performance is worth the entire movie and without his character...the movie is just...plain. -
Predictable, but it made me watch it til the end to have sure that it really was what I was thinking. I think that for a debut Edward Norton had made a perfect performance.
-
Edward Norton is a god. The movie wasn't too bad; I honestly found it a little anticlimactic and muddled, but luckily the performances helped save that.
-
This is a great film the first time you see it. I don't know how much re-play value it has. It falls to the wayside like the sixth sense.
-
Reminds me of The Usual Suspects...Please see this if and only i fyou like watching crime and justice long drawn out court cases movies...this was a good one to the very end...and afterwards!
-
normally i'd be completely gung-ho for this kind of movie, but gere acting like a tough guy gets annoying after a while, and the twist is really, really stretched.
-
This was the first movie that I saw with Ed Norton in and it blew me away.
It reminded me of The Usual Suspects because of the ending.
Not only is the story great, the parts by the lawyers wer superb.
Laura Linney owned her role and I was suprised noone got nominated for anything.
Everyone wants that lawyer that everyone's heard about and they come in and don't know what they have gotten themselves into. They are way in over their heads and it's too late to back out.
I loved every minute of this flick.
