A really bad film. Don't watch it.
  • August 15, 2009
Only saw this movie once and it instantly became a favorite. I like that it's inspired by true events, and that it's very exciting and suspenseful, but what I REALLY like about it is that not only is there a monster in the form a gigantic croc they're after, but the more they del...( read more)ve into the jungle, they perhaps find an even greater danger in the form of a civil war among their part of the country. The croc and the war among people presents double the punch and excitement, instead of just choosing to be a Lake Placid ripoff.

It's about a fucking crocodile. NEXT!
  • May 3, 2009
...It's just a damn croc? What a crock. I'll see this on DVD around September when it'll be in the cheap flick bin.

Or, better yet, not see this at all.

I was mad at Orlando Jones in this movie. You're in a horror movie! You're the ONLY black guy in the group! RUN!!!
  • March 29, 2009

  • March 10, 2009
Not much about this movie. Just surprised that Gustave does "exists" in real world. Minus the size.

If you are looking for a 'beast horror' flick, "Primeval" is not the film for you. Yes, the whole thing is set up as a group of American journalists that travels to Africa to find and capture a giant crocodile called 'Gustave', however the real threat to the Americans are a Afric...( read more)an warlord, and bang with got a 'political thriller' angle in the mix. Does the mix work? Not at all, the 'monster' parts are lame as fuck with some half-assed CGI crocodile chewing people in half and the 'thriller' parts are just pointless and unnecessary. If "Primeval" would just settle for the horror part I'm sure it would be better, however not a lot better as the acting, the directing, the dialogue, the effects, the plot, is all terrible. Are you looking for something worth watching? Keep looking...

Very disappointing to me .... seemed like a rehash of Lake Placid !
  • February 14, 2009
This is one of those movies that you know to be bad before you watch it and you still watch it. And it's even worse.
  • January 15, 2009
great movie . a killer croc os always a good watch. i al so thought that Orlando Jones was funny in this ilm
  • November 30, 2008
The only thing worth watching in this was Orlando Jones. Also the CGI was laughably bad.
  • November 29, 2008
Giant crocodile!! not as bad as i thought it would be
  • November 13, 2008
    Action-packed thriller!
  • November 13, 2008
Halfway through the movie I was thinking "well this isn't so bad" (considering other comparable movies), but then it just turns into a crapshoot. Still it's entertaining, Orlando Jones is enjoyable, and Jurgen Prochnow is always funny to watch in Rambo-esque roles...

Looks like Gustave has a bit of competion with the recent hurricane Gustave. So this is the first ever killer crocodile flick to make to the big screen aye? Crickey mate they put this in theaters but they only put the far supior Rogue in a select number of special cinemas? Well n...( read more)ot that this movie was bad, because it isn't. Me being the biggest crocodile lover eye have to admit this is the best crocodile flick eyev'e seen since Alligator,(which technically wasn't a crocodile) this film ventures far away from the standard horror formula of pretty boy and hottie girl so eye respect this movie more. The film delivers a good number of scares but most are the pop goes the weasle kind of moments were it's a cheap gotcha scare. Most people complain that the CG crocodile is fake looking but eye found it pretty good especially the moment when it is resting in a river bed concealed by those tall plantlike things that often grow around water. Do you want to know something really cheesey though? The crocodile in this movie actually runs after it's prey! Yes you did in fact read this right, the crocodile runs 28 Weeks Later style it's freakin crazy seeing a twentysomething foot long crocodile running after a person. The film doesn't just feature a man-eating crocdile though it actually tries to incorporate Hotel Rwanda like moments. Bottom line this movie is one of the best killer crocodile films out there definitley give it a try. If youv'e already seen the movie then take my movie quiz on it.

Pretty decent movie overall. It has 2 stories going on at once and they mesh together really well.

  • September 2, 2008
A very thrilling and fun monster movie, in the tradition of Jaws. It's smart, exciting, nail-biting and action-packed. An edge of your seat thriller with a realistic turn at a true story. A great cast of compelling and teriffic actors.
  • August 28, 2008
Despite it's lackluster dialogue and less than stellar effects, the movie isn't too bad at all. It doesn't get extremely bogged down in an attempt at something special, but takes itself seriously enough to be more than mediocre. If you like B-movies and creature films; it might w...( read more)arrant a viewing.

This was pretty crappy, even as a time waster. It looked like something that I'd see on the Sci Fi Channel during one of their horror movie crapfests they have.
  • August 13, 2008
if you like lake placid then go for it
  • August 10, 2008
One of those movies that can't decide if it would rather be horror or drama and so it fails at both.
  • July 31, 2008
i was kinda expectin it to be a lil more better but still was allright
  • July 25, 2008
Slightly entertaining cgi is pretty bad and movement of crocodile is unbelievable.

when i first saw the previews on this movie i wanted to see until i learned what it was about a giant croc. recently this movie was on demand and i decided to check it out. i was pleasantly suprised. really good action and decent story. only problem i had was with the ending. are...( read more) you kidding me .... the dog.

not really scary but very entertaining
  • July 15, 2008
While using a movie about an alligator to expose the horrors of genocide in Africa sounds like a good idea, it isn't. It also says something when a film about a giant killer lizard is boring, but, this movie had more than enough to reach that benchmark. Just watch Lake Placid 2...( read more) instead, at least that movie knew it sucked. Plus it had Bo Duke!! BO DUKE!

never expected such a waste film in my favorite actress brooke langton film... oops so sad to see this film only some 5 scenes are extraordinary and superb but no other was nice but my actress also superb...

This was truly a treat to watch. Orlando Jones added the comedy to this intense suspense / thriller about American journalists coming to Africa to do an exclusive story on the disappearances of hundreds of Africans, from Burundian villages, allegedly at the jaws of a prehistoric ...( read more)crocodile named Gustav. The plot was perfect. Not only did the journalists have a 100 year old reptile to contend with but they also were placed amidst a 14 year old, genocidal civil war, under the cruel orchestration of a tyrant named ?Little Gustav? (whom is human not reptilian LOL). You couldn?t trust anyone in this movie other than yourself and when it came to ?croc encounters?, the healthiness of your running legs were where ALL trust was placed. The effects in this movie are top notch. The suspense is there, as well, and the cinematography is astonishing to the point where all of Africa?s beauty was captured, by the camera crew, under the direction of, movie director, Michael Katleman.
  • June 15, 2008
Totally stupid, but I love movies about crazy super-smart animals that eat people.
  • June 14, 2008
Great movie. I thought the whole movie would be about a crocodile. Instead it was about some other crap. The ending was really good. That crocodile was huge. It ate that guy. Really good.
