When Robin Hood at last comes to visit his daughter, Gwyn's impulsive disrespect of his wishes endangers his life and the rightful succession of Prince Philip to the throne of England. A talented cast includes Keira Knightley, Malcolm McDowell, Stuart Wilson, Jonathan Hyde, and Stephen Moyer. It was kinda cliche, but interesting nevertheless. The actors were good with the exception of the dude that played Robin Hood... He wasn't suited for the role. The prince dude wasn't hot, sadly.

Awesome movie! I love Keira Knightley and all her Britishness! Phillip is one of the only male movie stars that can pull off the long hair thing, but only when its in a ponytail. Conrad can too, although I must say Philip pulls it off much better. Robin Hood's character is played by the guy who plays Rafael in Zoro!

Poor Prince John! Sure he was a douche bag but he was Royalty that was his job. All people in power are generally douche bags they have to be to get into power. Richard was a douche..OK that expression is making me sick...a jerk, so was Henry (their father) even a casual examination of the records of the time will confirm this supposition. So to invent some fictional son of Richard (hard to do as he liked war against his relatives and the comradere of men) to supplant King John just seems like another huge slap in the face. Let's face it his tyranny turned out for the best it lead to the Magna Carta which lead to all the great charters of rights and constitutions that so many people enjoy today in many different countries (usually by discarding it when ever they can). Don't get me wrong I love the Robin Hood universe I just appreciate a little more parity in the villainy of the ruling class as opposed to the mythical good King saving the day.
....oh the movie..(shrug)...it's OK. Knightley does alright, Mcdowell is always good and it is generally pretty silly and lightweight without actually adding anything of value to the Robin Hood mythos.
Stick to Errol Flynn for fun or Robin of Sherwood (TV series) as the definitive stories told on celluloid.

Loosely serving as a sequel to the tale of Robin Hood, The Princess of Thieves follows the woodsy bandit's headstrong daughter, Gwyn (Keira Knightley), in a series of lackluster events meant to appeal to young female teens. A modern-minded lass, Gwyn rejects her father's commands to stay safely at home, having trained in archery and "boyish" skills during his many long absences in service of Richard the Lionhearted. She soon pairs up with Richard's son, Prince Philip (Stephen Moyer), whose claim to the throne ? and life ? is being threatened by Prince John (Jonathan Hyde). Naturally, Philip needs Gwyn's help, and soon, so does Robin Hood (Stuart Wilson) himself, who is imprisoned by the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham (Malcolm McDowell).

The Princess of Thieves is harmless, "family-safe" entertainment, but it's also fairly boring. There's little of the gay swashbuckling fun that made classics like Errol Flynn's Adventures of Robin Hood so energetic and thrilling. Far more emphasis is placed upon Gwyn's spirited assertions of equality and her budding romance with Philip. The appropriately named Knightley gives an enthusiastic turn as the gamine Gwyn, but chopped hair and loose clothing cannot possibly hide her decidedly feminine visage ? not even a blind man could mistake this Winona Ryder-esque beauty for a boy. Though the elder supporting players add a palpable weight to the proceedings, The Princess of Thieves feels exactly like what it is: a Disney made-for-TV movie. Rather than being robbed of ducats at the video store, try to catch Thieves like this on television for free.

I remember this being my friend Jenny's favorite movie when we were younger, so I saw it and I didn't like it as well. We still have completely different taste. Two of her favorite movies: Elizabethtown and Wimbledon, are on my crap list. Anyway, this was okay.

The first film with Keira Knightley I've ever seen, so, obviously, I've got a huge sentiment for it. A story about Robin Hood and Lady Marion's daughter, Gwen, who accidentally happens to cooperate with future king of England... A lot of adventure plus a little 'triangular' romance. Maybe not a must see, but not a waste of time either...!

Awsome movie. I love it! I saw this one before I saw Robin Hood, so I thought is was great. I still think it is, but in my opinion it does not quite stand up to Robin Hood.

I love this movei! I can totally relate to Gwyn. No matter how many times I see this film I think its brilliiant each and every time. The historical aspects in this film are featured brilliantly alongside the phenomenal storyline! Another very empowering movie for all you warrior maidens out there!

It was better than I thought it was going to be. It didn't end the way you want it to but it was still a happy ending as most disney movies are.

Cruelly drubbed by many reviewers for folklore inaccuracies (Robin Hood's daughter is of noble blood etc), blatent historical inaccuracies (revealed in the final reel) and the Disney-fied vision of medieval life. This movie (originally made for television) is actually well worth a look and really not all that bad if taken for what it is (a fantasy re-imagining of the what if the good hearted English outlaw Robin Hood had a daughter who followed in her fathers footsteps). With some great acting - especially from Malcolm McDowell as the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham and rising Hollywood star Keira (King Arthur, Pirates of the Caribbean) Knightley as the title character Gwyn.
Revolving around the attempts of Robin Hood (and subsequently Gwyn) to safely transport King Richards illegitimate son Phillip to London in an effort to thwart Prince John's designs on the English throne. The movie has enough action to keep the young ones happy and enough drama and romance to make it a diverting picture for the adults.

Gwyn (Kiera Knightley) is a headstrong rebellious teenage daughter of Robin Hood & late Maid Marian with a bow and arrow and quick of wits just like her father.

A very fun film about Robin Hood's daughter, done more like a theatrical play than a movie, indeed more like films from Hollywood's Golden Age (which fits the Robin Hood story just fine), it's fun, fast-paced, and charming. Best part: A young, fiesty and very talented Kiera Knightly in the title role.
