"Suffering in silence is not the way out." It's the true story of a Punjabi woman named Kiranjit Ahluwalia who leaves India to marry a London-based guy (Naveen Andrews), only to be badly abused. She ends up in prison for murdering her abusive husband.

I can't imagine enduri...( read more)ng what she did but her suffering caused her to grow considerably stronger than she thought possible and luckily in her case justice prevailed. In many cases of spousal abuse this is not the case... Aishwarya is captivating! Worth watching especially if you've experienced this type of treatment or know someone who has.

This is a fantastic movie, and one I most likely won't forget soon. This movie is deeply touching and moving. Miranda Richardson gives a stellar performance, and so does Aishwarya Rai and Naveen Andrews.

Based on a true story, it was acted supurbly. It's English and Bollywood, so if you don't do accents you won't like it. Aishwarya is such a good actress.

Mrs. Ahluwalia's case changed British Law and how battered women are treated. This was suppossed to be the cross over vehicle for Ashwarya Rai but it's Nandita Das who shines.

  • January 6, 2009
Average real-life based movie, nothing that makes it "A Must Watch".

Ash is a good preformer at some points, but her play wasnt so catchy in this movie. There was something in her expression that wasnt so sympathetic, but sounded more of guilty in her part. I didnt find the husband's play so catchy either.

There were manythings missing in the movie, in the acting of the main charecters in the movie that made it less attractive and less of telling a true story of a true life.
