Great movie. Bond goes all action

It?s not the worst ever Bond Film. That's mainly because its barely a Bond film and Die another day was awful. Everyone seems to have liked Casino Royale apart from me but I think people are starting to realise that this franchise has taken a turn for the worst as Quantum of Sola...( read more)ce proves. Paul Haggis's script is (surprise surprise) awful. You have great actors (Amalric, Wright) wasted due to a lack of direction and poor old Judy Dench came off as an old Grandmother 'Don't forget your coat Bond, its rather chilly outside'. Ok she didn't say that but her lines were very close to it. Marc Forster hasn't been a good director for a while, I think Monsters Ball was just good luck. I can't stand Paul Haggis and Daniel Graig isn't one of my favourite actors either. For those reasons, I give this film a poor rating. Don't get me started on the editing....

I'll stick to "Casino Royale" if I want to watch a "Daniel Craig" Bond movie...Absolutely disappointing compared to the first go-round. Too bad, considering the trailer was awesome!

A very good action film continuing right on from Casino Royale. Plenty of action, chases and explosions. Has a certain Bourne Trilogy feel to a lot of the stunts and fights. The Bond films now are more gritty, raw without the tongue in cheek humour of the past films. One for all ...( read more)out action entertainment but not the best story for a Bond film.

a change of director in marc forster who's done some pretty solid films already brings about an average bond movie with some stunning action sequences. unfortunately with daniel craig i think average is the best that can be hoped for. the best part was the ending. despite any fau...( read more)lts it had it was entertaining and re-watchable so all in all a much needed improvement on casino royale. let's hope things keep improving

"I needed some solace and a quantum of vodka after this slight disappointment" says Brett Warren of whosinthenews...

Every film, tv and book franchise has its absolute purists and Bond is surely no exception. With over five decades worth of material people have a very clear perc...( read more)eption of what James Bond is and is supposed to be. And to many fanboy's dismay Quantum apparently violates many cardinal rules; some of which are valid, some are preconceived notions and some reside in the fact that this is the only Bond to be a direct sequel...a double edged sword that makes it difficult to judge the film as a whole since it's really the final act of Casino Royale...a very long final act but one nonetheless. The decision by the scriptwriters to do this raises some inevitable problems when building a satisfying story arc (and is probably a good illustration as to why every previous 007 film is its own entity)...so you can either ignore the fact that it's a continuing storyline and focus on all the elements it was unable to establish, or cut it some slack and enjoy the ride.
A problem that certainly is understandable is in the direction that Craig's Bond is being taken. Casino Royale showed us an extremely cocky super-soldier whose shortcomings were excusable since he was a stone still being crafted into the slick, stylish and invincible agent we know and love. Much in the same way Christian Bale's Batman transforms into the Dark Knight, we expected Bond to do the same. Granted, the beginning of the film takes place minutes after the first but there is still the feeling of stagnation since those closing shots of Royale promised a transformed Bond...a world class double-agent. Unfortunately what he reverts to is the icy-hearted killing machine we saw in the beginning, or "efficient" as he is called in the film.
Once again the ending of this second installment promises yet a new version of Bond, he has dealt with the Vespar episode, and so if by the next film there isn't a stark difference in either his methodology (becomes more than a mere bulldozer) or his persona (becomes more suave and manipulative) then I think fans will have a genuine reason to gripe.

Trivia: Catherine Zeta Jones was cloned, de-aged, slimmed down and re-named Olga Kurlylenko so that the real her could star in the romantic comedy romp "The Rebound" co-starring the comic relief guy from National Treasure.

Yeah not bad. Moves further away from the typical Bond formula than Casino Royale, but it's bit too far. Also, none of the action scenes quite rival the awesome foot chase at the start of Casino.

I don't want to offend anyone and I am a real Bond fan but this actor just doesn't meet my expectations.
I know that times change and our hero as well ,yet I can't help it , this guy looks like a pheasant next to any other Bond character.
And the plot , a total disappointment.Get...( read more) real , I saw better ones.
So much for 'movie of the year' and 'best actor'.
The action scenes were interesting and the special effects very high quality - as usual.

People can pan this film but it really is a flic that just ties up the loose ends of the fantastic Casino Royale and cements the fact Craig is now Bond into the mind of the public through a short, but action and emotion filled thriller. Can't wait for the next one.
