One day, Asuka awakes to discover she's in a psychiatric hospital after spending two days in a coma; her boyfriend, a television presenter named Tetsuo (Kudo Kankuro), is convinced her accidental overdose was really a suicide attempt, and he's had her committed for observation, even though he's clearly more disturbed than she is. 2007 marked the return to the big screen of ex-model, ex-singer, no longer ex-actress, drop dead gorgeous Yuki Uchida. I can't really give her high marks as a thespian, but ... good lord, the woman's got Ivory Soap charm and the beauty to back it up. Bizarre, funny, sometimes melancholic and touching and sometimes crazy comedy, but without even remotely falling down to dumb slapstick - full of different characters, moods and impressions, it's like a bunch of flowers. Loved it.

Matsuos Welcome to the Quiet Room is a great comedy and a touching drama all at once. I loved the atmosphere, the oddness of some scenes, the colorful details and the variety of cranky characters. Don't miss this one!

A show cast of great performances from some of Japan's most populate and talented artists. The bizarre world inside a mental clinic is in fact no more strange and at times more loveable than the one outside.

This film is both very funny and very sad. It is well done and entertaining. Well this film is proof to me that you can still make good movies without any special effects and with mostly just a good script and ideas :)
