The British rock band Radiohead are an unusually introspective and downbeat group of musicians, which would make them unlikely candidates for international pop stardom. But against all odds, that's wh...( read more  read more... )at happened to them in the wake of a hit single, Creep, and press notices that have made them one of the most talked about English groups of the 1990s. In Meeting People Is Easy, director Grant Gee watches the band as they record their third album, the highly acclaimed OK Computer, then head out for an international tour, playing concerts and promoting the record in Europe, Japan, and the United States. Anyone expecting high-spirited hijinks in the manner of This Is Spinal Tap will be quickly disappointed (though anyone expecting high spirits from Radiohead has probably never heard their music). Meeting People Is Easy focuses on the downside of life on the road, as the band is booked into a long series of non-descript arenas, invited to perform on award shows where they clearly feel out of place, and repeatedly answer the same questions from an endless parade of journalists, with lead singer Thom Yorke often seeming to buckle under the strain. Meeting People Is Easy received a brief theatrical release in the United States prior to its bow on home video through the band's American record label, Capitol.~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Documentary of my favourite band, but a lot of the material I like hadn't been made at this point. It basically shows how fucked up they become by the end cos of all the shit they get. However, my main gripe is that this tedium rubs off on the viewer as well, to an extent.

Up...( read more)date: Upon rewatching, I really appreciated this documentary. It creates a terrifying, sterile atmosphere and you do really get an insight into the psyche of Thom Yorke if you know your stuff. Rated very highly but I concede this has a lot to do with my Radiohead obsession.

ill probably catch this on the independent channel, considering Radiohead is my favorite thing from the 90's period. Colin Greenwood probably hears his bass lines in his dreams before he plays them because nobody has that much rythym ( i just realized ive never typed the word ryt...( read more)hym, i hope thats spelled right) and why is Thom Yorke not in the cast list thing?

FOR RADIOHEAD FANS ONLY. a doc recorded on there 1997 ok computer world tour, capturing the highs after the release of the universally praised album, to the bands dealings with media and touring countrys, whats great about this doc is the style, it perfdectly compliments the band...( read more)s album there promoting, with loads of images of band next to modern trappings of travel and foreign settings, whilst tour goes on, with talking heads from the band capturing there mood, it also gives a glimpse as to why they went the direction they did with amnesiac and kid a there follow ups in this decade, wanting to not be stuck down and conform to standerd, this is a glimpse of a band at a time when they were the greatest around and who knows which way they would head, and todayb still the best band on the planet,,and i love r.e.m
