C'est vraiment un chef-d'oeuvre! J'ai acheté ce film suite au vidéo d'Eminem We Made You haha et je ne le regrette pas! Un des meilleurs films que j'ai vu. J'aimerais tellement ca avoir un frère comme ça:p

January 20, 2009(1988 Director: Barry Levinson) Dustin Hoffman...what talent!!! Yes, he outshined even Tom Cruise. Stealing the stage is a feat oft pulled off by Dustin (Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Doubtfire) A plus for understanding the disabled. A role Hoffman was made for. Cruise plays an initially unconcerned brother, spoiled rich kid feels he has lost his inheritance and displays amazing superficiality by seeking out the undisclosed "someone" to whom his father has left a $3 million trust. Dustin acts the role of an adult autistic character with true sensitivity. Cruise develops genuine concern for his older "lost" brother who was institutionalized due to the possible harm Hoffman (who has autims) posed to Cruise at home! All this occurs as Cruise's character is all but disinherited except for his wealthy father's prized 1949 Buick Roadmaster.

June 18, 2008Contrary to one of the themes of this movie, K-Mart does NOT suck. I buy all of my three striped gym socks from this fine department store franchise.
Not to mention my tighty whiteys, epson salts, Musilex & 'Tussin cure-alls. -
April 22, 2008You do understand that Dustin Hoffman's character is an autistic savant, right? So his attitudes in the movie are justified because, guess what? THAT'S HOW SOME AUTISTIC PEOPLE ACT!
But I do see what you mean about the ending. The ending was definitely one of the best parts of the movie because it was realistic. -
February 11, 2007This is a character driven story which as far as movies are concerned is my first love, but this movie left me irritated!
Perhaps I am do not have the patience, nor the political correctness of someone who enjoyed or who would enjoy this film!? When I went to see it in the theater I fell asleep! It literally bored me into unconsciousness! When I finally saw the movie, for the first time, on dvd, I told my friends who I watched the movie with,...
"I wanna hit him! Can I hit'em? Please!!? Please,.. not to hurt him, just to make him shut the fuck up!"
...in an effort to display my frustration for Dustin Hoffmans character, ya know the retard with the 83 IQ...
The ending, the way that it ended, took some criticism and I actually enjoyed the ending and it was the best part of the movie. And no, not just for the cynical "Thank God!!! It's finally over!!!", but I understood the significance of the ending, it was poignant and it made sense.
The story was good, but the script was awful! The acting was good, but the moments of stupidity, in particularly for Hoffmans character, were excrutiating!!! A star and a half is all this movie is worth!
Terribly annoying... is an understatement, in an effort to describe this movie!
