  This is getting 5 stars purely based on Oliver James performance. Such a beautiful guy and you couldn't help but fall in love with him. The plot of the film was good and since I watched this in my early teens, I was always going to have a real soft spot for this film. The start of the film is also unexpected and a real poignant story. The songs were incredible and you can't deny the fact that Hilary Duff has an amazing singing voice.

  After the death of her brother, Hilary Duff goes on rampage of revenge. Well, not exactly, she joins a music school or some shit. It wasn't very interesting, whatever it was. David Keith plays a character so fucking annoying you pray for his character to be gang raped by numerous animals. He's an even less likable version of Liam Neeson in Taken. It's just a stupid and lazy plot device. It's the usual tween crap with even less surprises.

It was a good chick flick and it's great for their intended audience which is younger children and tweens. It's an enlightening film on how to get over your incredible grief and how to make your way in the world and you will love the soundtrack if you are a big Hilary Duff fan.

  Okay, goddamn it, I watched it! But fuck, it was 2005, fucking hell. Anyway. This is not a film as much as a business deal for Ms. Duff-- and it serves the same damn morals we're used to get in every 'inspirational' teen movie. But there is a little something that sets it apart-- clearly NOT Hilary's frustrating white-bread acting style-- a somewhat fresh cast and a reasonably realistic take on artistic authenticity. This film IS about music, and to the tween generation, it's a solid value to be taught. So, in terms of filmmaking, it's pure fucking soap-- but I guess it serves some sort of purpose. Good.
