The best Coen brothers comedy.
very '80s! and i can't say i am into the comedy of that decade.
frankly, it bored me, so i took it on fast forward.
Before the Big Lebowski there was Raising Arizona.
Raising Arizona (1987) is the funniest movie I have ever seen (in my opinion). The Coens are the best at making screwball comedies and this one is of them. The characters are interesting and funny at the same time. My favorit...( read more)
"Raising Arizona is a 1987 Coen Brothers comedy film starring Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, William Forsythe, John Goodman, Frances McDormand and Randall "Tex" Cobb. Not a blockbuster at the time of its release, it has since achieved the status of a cult film."
A very funny but al...( read more)
Outrageous, over the top Coen comedy populated with reactionary, but lovable, idiots.
Hilarious and just the craziest premise and characters that blow this comedy into a funny classic.
good & funny... regardless of many kids someone has, there is none to spare... a fave Nicolas Cage was funny...
Another one of Coen's best films. Camera shots are insane reminding me of Evil Dead's innovative camera shots on a higher budget. All the characters are crazy like any other Coen movie, they us most of the same actors as their later films in this one. I also thought music and sco...( read more)
Slated on its release, this has now been established as a classic comedy of the finest calibre. Quite right too! The Coen brothers early comedy was just a taste of what was to come. Brilliant. Always wondered why they never cast Nicolas Cage again though!? Not that I'm complaining.
Another great Coen Brothers film. This is halarious, some times looks like a real life cartoon, and has some great characters with a unique and funny storyline. I really enjoyed this one. It might not be quite as good as the Big Labowski or other Coen Brothers films, but this is ...( read more)
It was as enjoyable as I am lazy -- and that means quite! Although, I must admit I tuned out at times, so I can't give this a higher rating until I see this one again and pay better attention, mostly to the voice overs.
hahaha, this movie was perfect Coen brothers screwball insanity! The screenplay and comedy were priceless. Great supporting role by John Goodman as well.
As orignal as this bizarre baby-kidnapping comedy is, to me it's not the best Coen bros film around. Of course it's a high bar, and this flm, containing some hilarious scenes and brilliant oneliners, is still way above any average comedy.
You just have to take it for what it is, and the concept was comedic genius. It definitely could have been developed better. But it's a Coen comedy, incomparable to Lebowski, but still meant to be enjoyed for what it is. And it's undoubtedly fun.
absolute comedy classic. one of the many examples of the coen brothers genius.
I usually dislike Nicolas Cage greatly, however I actually thought he fit his role perfectly.
It's the Coen brothers, what can I say? Entertaining as always, not one of their best but nevertheless a great and funny film.
One of the few movies Nicolas Cage is actually good in. Over the top maybe but damn hilarious all the same.
wow umn just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch....its got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie...i think that nicolas cage, holly hunter, john goodman, frances mcdormand play good roles/parts throughout this movie....i thin...( read more)
A very funny film which plays on the wacky side of the Coen brothers and Cage. A truly comical film which is almost cartoony in it's ways.
Si vous avez aimé No contry for o...( read more)
the best part of this movie is one kid carving "fart" into the wall - other than that, it's complete shit.
Though the film lost me a little with the bounty-hunter, the rest of the film is hilarious. The cast was excellent, with Holly Hunter and Nicholas Cage delivering memorable performances.
the first time watching it is a real treat.
But because of its dependance on style I wouldn't recommend watching it repeatedly (at least leave it a year or 2 if you really want to enjoy it again.) Otherwise the whole experience might become a bit empty.
Nicolas Cage!

Typically insane movie from the Coen Brothers, two of my favorite movie makers. I don't necessarily like every film they make - some of them are a bit too esoteric for my tastes - but they when they hit, they hit on all cylinders.
For all the visual flair and deft performances on display in their films, the Coens' greatest virtue lies in writing? In terms of cheerful stories, witty dialog and the creation of a coherent, plausible fantasy world peopled by vivid characters, their ability to work original and...( read more)
Fantastic at first, but I really think the bounty hunter subplot isn't funny in the slightest and the movie's final-hour focus on him really drags it down. Still, the unmistakable Evil Deadian energies here keep Raising Arizona mostly madcap,

Great movie, it's got comedy, suspense, action, and a good cast. Check it out!
I usually don't like Nicolas Cage, but in this of all movies I do like him. he's great! despite the fact that he's a baby stealing robber, I think he's wonderful.
the Coen brothers are great, it's hard not to like their movies.
"I be grabbin these huggies and whatever cash you got in the register."
Awesome film. I laughed so much throughout the whole hour and a half. I really dig Nicolas' mustache and Holly's accent. There are a few details that irritated me because it seems like it wouldn't happen that way in real life but otherwise everything else was perfect. The Coen br...( read more)
