Wonderful movie that makes one wonder what kind of world this would be if Zyklon-B had been first used on the American south.
  • December 17, 2008
The only movie I can recall seeing in which I would describe Nicolas Cage's performance as "good." Well, in the 80s and most of the 90s anyway.
  • December 17, 2008
Hilarious comedy by the Coen Brothers
  • December 16, 2008

  • December 8, 2008
Possibly one of the funniest movies to ever feature baby snatching.
  • December 6, 2008
I'm by no means a Cage fan but I think he was wonderful in this. Great story and great soundtrack.
  • December 6, 2008
Funny and wacky, but not as good as I thought it would be. Interesting role for Nick Cage. I've been on a Coen binge lately, and I still like Barton Fink the best so far.
  • December 6, 2008
    Irresistibly fun and hilarious.
  • November 28, 2008
    The Coen brothers' funniest movie.
  • November 23, 2008
Hilarious white trash the Coen brothers are film geniuses. My favorite part had to be when Ed and H.I. just got the baby and she says "I love him soooo much" and starts sobbing excessively. It's no wonder why they wrote this role specifically for Holly Hunter.

  • November 8, 2008
One of the funniest movies made in the last 20 years....
  • November 2, 2008
It was definitely a fun movie, especially certain scenes with the wild camera. Overall, this is the Coens weakest work, nothing fantastic overall in the plot and thought the acting was fine, it just doesn't capture a a spirit or mood that is normally at work in their films. Highl...( read more)y enjoyable, but nothing compared to their best.

    RAISING ARIZONA (1987)
    directed by Joel Coen
starring Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, John Goodman

Raising Arizona is the Coens second feature, its miles away from their directorial debut Blood Simple but its just as e
...( read more)ffective in its own right. A small-time criminal - who never uses bullets in his gun - falls for a cop whom he sees everytime he crosses her path as he goes to jail but one time he decides to go straith to her. When he gets out for the Xth time they get married, they soon find out she is infertile and they decide to kidnap a baby when they learn the owner of a huge store and his wife just had quintuplets. In the meanwhile a bounty hunter will try to find him, two of his old jail pals will escape and hide at his place creating some conflicts.

Raising Arizona is a classic. Its one of the funniest movies ever made. As usual with the Coens all the characters are, lets say, «special». Nicolas Cage looks as dumb as it gets and is perfectly cast, Holly Hunter gives a great performance as his cop-wife. John Goodman and William Forsythe are just annoying enough to play their dumb characters - the escaped convicts - who have a great scene when they rob a bank at the end of the film. Frances McDormand as a friend of the couple is odd, she really creates an interesting character.

The famous diaper chase robbery scene is still as funny the 19th time as it was the first time. That moment stays in mind of whoever sees it cause its one of the most memorable in the history of comedies and maybe cinema. When you watch Raising Arizona you understand why the Coens have so many fans today.

Another classic Coen take on funny America.
  • October 14, 2008
Classic Coen Brother film!! Has fantastic amounts of hilarious scenes, but also has its moments that make me a little uneasy!! Great performance from Cage...after seeing this I can't help but think what happened to him. "Recidivism"

this masterpiece has given us the most incredible diaper heist chase scene to ever grace the big screen. it is an important piece of cinematic history. filmmakers everywhere should be required to study this work of art as the holy grail of kidnap comedy.

although this flick got a little uncomfortable at times and is not one of the coen's better films, it is clever and different and absolutely hilarious at parts. a very different comedy with a solid performance by cage.

    Brilliant. Well done.

  • September 11, 2008
I had high hopes for this, and there was a great prologue with some fun humor and some cool camera work, but it was just to silly and slapsticky. Not my thing.
  • September 7, 2008
A really clever and unusual comedy... the kind of film I've come to expect from the Coens.

Raising Arizona, the Coens' follow-up to their excellent debut Blood Simple, is an explosively clever and riotously funny exploration of fertility, homemaking, and the working class in the prisons and trailer parks of the desert southwest. H.I. McDunnough (Nicolas Cage) meets loc...( read more)al cop "Ed" (Holly Hunter) while having his mugshot taken. When H.I. gets paroled, he and Ed marry but find themselves unable to conceive. Hungering for a simple family life, H.I. gives up the gone-straight life to steal one of a furniture tycoon's quintuplets, but soon finds an apocalyptic bounty hunter on his tail. Meanwhile, two of H.I.'s jail buddies (John Goodman and William Forsythe) seek refuge with the new family man after busting out of the joint and tug at H.I.'s loyalties. Raising Arizona is consistently absorbing and well-acted; in the biggest scenes, including an astounding and hilarious chase/robbery of diapers, it reaches comic greatness. Nonetheless, it's a triumph of style over substance.

Ed McDonnough: [sobbing] "Turn to the right.
    H.I.: What's the matter, Ed?
Ed McDonnough: My "fy-ance" left me.
H.I.: [narrating] She said her fiancé had run off with a student cosmetologist, who knew how to ply her feminine wiles.
H.I.: [out loud] That sumbitch. You tell him, I think he's a damn fool, Ed. You tell him I said so - H.I. McDonnough. If he wants to discuss it, he knows where to find me: in the Maricopa County Maximum Security Correctional Facility For Men State Farm, Road Number 31, Tempe, Arizona! I'LL BE WAITIN'! I'll be waitin'."

Funny film from the Coen brothers
  • August 25, 2008
A silly plot engulfed by the brilliancy of the Coens. Cage and Goodman deliver fine performances.
  • August 24, 2008
Why this one is called "Arizona Junior" in Sweden instead of the original title beats me. However it's one of the few movies where I can stand the sight of Nicholas Cage.
  • August 23, 2008
This is a very good movie
  • August 20, 2008
Trama strampalata ma stile unico dei Cohen. Si vede che già nell'87 avevano le idee ben chiare.
  • August 19, 2008
very weird senes and story.an offiicer and a criminal gets married then take a baby of a rich family?what a crazy world!
  • August 17, 2008

  • August 15, 2008
If not for Nicholas Cage, this would have been one of the worst movies ever.
  • August 12, 2008
I wanna see Nicolas Cage's slow spin and stare.
