Another brilliant Coen Brothers' movie...too many hilarious scenes to count. The camera work was sensational as always, and Goodman and Cage are perfect for their roles. Fantastic movie

Nicolas Cage really impressed me in this film. I've heard about it before but never really felt a desire to check it out. I rented it out and really enjoyed the story. With a few elements which annoyed me (the devil biker) however a fun film to watch.

" I found myself driving past convenience stores... that weren't on the way home."

In this comedy, good hearted ex-con H.I. (Nicolas Cage) and emotionally unstable ex-cop Ed (Holly Hunter) are infertile, so when the "Arizona quints" are born to a local unpainted furniture magnate they decide the parents wouldn't miss just one baby. With its "Biker of the Apoca...( read more)lypse" and H.I.'s unexplained lapses into Shakespearean lingo, it's offbeat even for the Coen brothers, but when its on it's funny as hell.

Quirky early Coen Bros. comedy with Nicolas Cage in his most "redneck" role. Classic.
  • March 3, 2008
One of Nicolas Cage's first films. Some fairly entertaining scenes. The Coen brothers came up with quite a funny concept, of a crook marrying the woman who kept on arresting him and then trying to steal a baby cose they can't have one of their own...

Easily one of the Coen Brothers' wildest comedies. Nicolas Cage is hilarious as a man who kidnaps a baby because he and his wife are unable to have children. Sounds like a pretty serious plot, but it's far from it. The style of this movie is certainly not for everyone, but it ...( read more)is definitely very original.

Here is my introduction to the Coen Brothers moviemaking style, which took off in many other movies afterwards. I never paid any attention to Nick Cage until this movie. I thought at the time that he was a comedy actor, it wasn't until later movies that I learned that he had such...( read more) a wide range and talent.

Is there anything wrong with this movie? I mean, seriously! Nic Cage was perfectly cast as a loser con who just can't stop stealing, even after he steals a baby to be a family man. And John Goodman and Bill Forsythe are great as his ex-con buddies who find out about his baby-napp...( read more)ing.
I love, love, love this movie. Perfect in every way. Tarantino even thought so when he stole the fight scene in the bathroom for Kill Bill. (But his version is great, too.)

  • January 15, 2008
One of the Coen Brothers first films, a delightfully dark comedy that only their twisted genius minds could conceive.
  • January 15, 2008
ah, the Coen Bros....quite possibly one of the weirdest comedies I've ever seen. quirky, surreally hilarious slapstick. brilliant performance from Cage and Hunter--the perfect oddjob couple. excellent movie.

screwball by way of road runner cartoons, this is coens doing all out comedy, great comedic moments only coens could do, superb set pieces, and in nic cage a mad southern performance, hes great at that,
  • January 8, 2008
Holly Hunter is a scream in this...'you just go back in there and get me a baby!' I am sure this is what inspired 'Happy Texas' almost 20 years later. You have to love a love story of down home folk. Nicholas' gentle nature is so obliging and well intentioned. Wonderful subtle hu...( read more)mour from Goodman too.

Coen brother's second movie. I loved it! Nic Cage rocks (he shows he''s a good actor, despite the horrible movies he played in later) and the whole film is entertaining and so funny, although I still prefer the "darkest" side of the Coens.
