I don't have real high opinions of most animated movies, but this one is pretty good. A cute rat (can a rat be cute?) wants to be a chef - in Paris no less.

    "Anyone can cook!"

The best food in the world is in France. The best in France is in Paris. The best restaurant in Paris is Gusteau's. Gusteau is a world-renowned chef with his unending motto as mentioned beforehand. And an avid fan, with the same forte as his, is dying t...( read more)o be just like him. The incredible thing is that he's a rat.

This is one of the best animated films ever done! I loved it from start to finish. Excellent screenplay, which unsurprisingly gained a nomination and the movie itself was so amazing that it gained a dashing Oscar win. Technically, everything is almost perfect.

As for the ending, it was beautiful. I supposed that they would end up regaining the five stars of Gusteau's and live in endless fame and grandeur. But the movie didn't end up like that. Instead, they lost their beloved restaurant. The food critic, Ego, did also lose his credibility as an acclaimed critic for praising the cuisine of the restaurant he once defamed. However, everybody ended up happy. Ego invested into a small business called "Le Ratatouille" where Languini, Colette and Remy worked. It is a haven of fine French cooking for humans, and rats.

This film surely inspired its audience. The motto, as explained in the film, means that anybody can cook, but only the fearless can be great. It says a lot. We all have our dreams, or the things we desire to do. Undoubtedly, everyone can do it. But in order to be great in the field we chose, we must have the guts. The world hated rats. They were disliked. They were treated as pests. The world was tough. The thing to do in order to survive is to steal food. But Remy made a difference. He stood firmly with what he believes in despite his disapproving father, the disgusted world and the many challenges he faced. Passion. Ambition. Courage. We must possess all of these to excel in what we do, just like Remy did.
