The main idea is good. A charming stranger on the night flight next to you starts threatening to kill your dad at home if you don't make the call he wants you to make. And for a while that works pretty well, with Murphy being threatening and McAdams nicely panicked. Somewhere on ...( read more)the way things do get somewhat predictable, though and the showdown (sadly outside the more claustrophobic airplane setting) is following the conventions of the genre way too easily. Fortunately, the movie is short and entertaining before you have the time to think about how often you have seen similar solutions already. Still, not bad for genre fans.

Limp, predictable, waste of time. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen ....... It managed to make Murphy about as scary as Barney. Woeful cliched tosh.

Not a bad, but not entirely believable thriller. It has its moments and I especially liked the scenes set on the claustrophobic coach section of the plane. After that the film lost its hold on me.

This adds a clever layer to the plot.
A good movie to watch when you can't sleep (and I don't mean that sarcastically!) Interesting enough to hold your attention but not so complex your sleepy brain will miss anything important.

Amazingly tense and scary, this is sure to make you feel frightened of the innocent stranger you sit next to.

Red Eye is one hell of a surprising film, taut, intense and smartly plotted. It does have it flaws, but it's still fine.
