i really liked this movie, and it's best movie about dragons and that similar shit, like always great performance by Bale, he always do hes job perfect,
Dragons are also made very good, specialy that main one, the male dragon, wiht he old rusty wings,
and seeing London in ruins also nice good to see on movie at least :)
and all special effects r great from fire to ruins everything .... all in all it's nice story done very well
Dazzling special effects highlight this so-so fantasy adventure about dragons wrecking havoc on England in the year 2020. Movies like this are usually best when they have a sense of irony. Unfortunately this action film lacks a sense of humor and fails to engage.
I fell for Matthew McConaughey in this movie. Christian Bale was inspired but Matt's complete transformation into a psycho/hero made the movie for me. Liked the story, cinematography was good...CGI draons not eh best I've seen but what can u do.
O.K. I'm giving it 4 stars for two reasons. It's one of the few movies to ever explain why dragons breathe fire, and for Matthew McConaughey's kick ass bare-chested axe-weilding screaming dive off the tower into death at the end. That alone should get it a star.
matthew mconaughey looked creepy in this movie, i dont think they gave him the right look to be an american army leader. it was an ok movie, kinda stupid. it wasnt that full of action and it didnt really have an excellent story line. too much talking for a movie where you slay dragons!
This was definately a great movie. I liked the beginning very much and found it very effective. I also admire the way the director skipped past the main destruction phase usually shown in movies and went to the after the world panics part. Very good acting from all, especially Bale, McConaughey and Butler.
Christian Bale is good in this but Im afraid the acting award goes to Mathew Mcconaughey iin this one I ws totally blown away by his performance this movie is real good after watching how to lose a guy in 10 days(nn)
Good movie... This film will have you believing in dragons. You'll wish there were no such creatures. These dragons have no fairly tale quality about them. They are big and nasty. They have risen up and have all but destroyed the earth. The few surviving groups of people are merely trying to survive this new reign of fire. The acting by the lead cast is excellent. The story line is pretty intricate for a special effects type film. Most of the film takes place in Scotland, and this helps create the cold, dark, damp atmosphere. Reign of Fire is a very ambitious film. I loved it.
Man Mathew McConaughey was a beast in this film! He was impressive and very believable as the character he played I hatted the end result Wanted more of the dragons but what we got was amazing!! Man were they smart and vindictive!!!
first time i saw Christian Bale - and now am a big fan. unusual story of post-acolyptic earth overtaken by dragons. gritty, dark and very humanistic - surprisingly. Interesting with best performance I've seen from Maconaughy - tough men in tough world, nice
Bale's talent is wasted on crap liek this. McConaughey belongs here though. Your run of the mill action fest whch tries to be darker n edgier than it ever can be.
'Reign of Fire' had a premise that shows some potential. Not Oscar, but Blockbuster certainly. So it's a shame the mediocre plot was burnt to dust thanks to some awful scripting, cheesy acting and direction that aims entirely for the generic.
The film opens with a prologue in London that sees a Dragon unearth itself from the depths of the city's Tube network and within weeks it has bred so nearly all Europe is perishing in flames. Twenty years later Christian Bale plays Quinn, the Brit who allowed the initial creature escape, while Matthew McConaughey is the tough-kicking American come to save the day.
The fact that "Come on men, we got some dragons to kill!" is even a line gives an inkling as to what to expect from this movie. While some British humour does manage to sneak in it is quickly expelled by some disaster or another that holds little viewer interest; the action scenes are uneven and poorly edited, and the film boasts a climax where you expect, and deserve, so much more.
On top of this we are given a barely developed, almost laughable romantic story arc completely for the sake of it, plus what would be a laughable if it were not so embarassing action sequence where McConaughey leaps onto a flying dragon Gladiator style. No marks for breaking stereotypes then.
The dragons, however, do look amazing. The effects are superbly done, and luckily the director never lets go of the gothic eerieness of such a dystopic future. It would be atmospheric if the plot execution weren't so tedious.
'Reign of Fire' is to be taken strictly as no-brains entertainment. On that level you might get some thrills and enjoyement out of it, but it never really has the chance to be superior entertainment. This is a below average popcorn 'thriller'; it's too difficult to care when it's so obvious such little effort went into a picture.
This movie was all right. By the synopsis it sounded very good, but I guess in reality it wasn't. The actors were good, the special effects were good, but story kinda was going nowhere and 'messy' battles are not exactly the type of action I enjoy to watch.
Overall not bad, perhaps worth watching once or twice, but then it will get boring.
wow i have not seen this movie in ages but when i saw it i thought that this is a cracking movie.,..this has got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout the movie...i think that the director of this Action & Adventure, Science Fiction & Fantasy movie had done a great job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout the movie because he keeps you on the edge's of your seats throughout this movie...the special effects throughout the movie were really good throughout this was enjoyable 2 watch...this is a good thriller/action movie
