Fairly commical I guess... It was entertaining and funny, slightly old though. Some of the jokes were lame, expected, and I guess you can say, seen before. I didn't particularily like the acting quality of Ron Livingston either, it was kinda lame and lacking...
Well, I HATE Danny DeVito but I LOVE Kathy Bates. The story was okay but very predictable. Nothing to crow about but a tolerable bit of fluff if you have an hour and a half to kill.
The other characters didn't really do anything outstanding. They weren't bad, just not enough story to really challenge them, I guess?
Not a real winner but it does have a happy ending so I gave it a solid three.
So this film could've been better.. but then again, it could've been worse. I'd say Danny DeVito and Kathy Bates saved this from being something really terrible. Their comedic timing was pretty funny and they were a very believable kooky couple. This film isn't all bad. Check it out, if it's free.
Kathy Bates and Danny DeVito have a few funny lines, but Christine Baranski is wasted--and that, my friends, is a big no-no. Did this movie even play in the theaters?
Yes, it's another "meet the parents" movie - with a twist or two. I get confused when people dislike a movie because it doesn't "surprise" them. I sat happily through nine hours of Lord of the Rings knowing all the time that the ring would go in the pit. This movie may be "like" other movies in some ways (very strange parents - both sets- and happy ending), but in other ways it's unique. And I really enjoyed it!
A lighthearted movie good for a dreary rainy day. Some very funny moments. Don't judge a book by the cover is a lesson the lead character learned during this movie. Danny DeVito and Kathy Bates play great characters and were very funny. The movie was sometimes funny, often easily predictable, and sometimes darn right silly, but I got through it.
A really enjoyable movie with lots of laughs and a good lesson to be learned you shouldn't discrimate other people before you get to know or becuase of who they are.
I caught this on Comedy Central, and it's not that bad. There are some laughs to be had. It's pretty forgettable, but I liked the premise, and I enjoy Ron Livingston in anything he is in (doesn't do too much, other than commercials, nowadays). If you get the chance, it's interesting.
This was actually a pretty hilarious movie with DeVito and Kathy Bates providing a lot of the funny jokes! The ending was quite predictable yet heart-warming and sweet. I highly recommend this film as there's a good lesson to be learned from it!
I caught this movie on Comedy Central and had to watch when I saw Neve Campbell.
Although it had some good actors in it, it was a very formulaic crap comedy. Kathy Bates is very convincing as White trash and Christine Branski and the guy from The Gilmore Girls are good casting as Ron Livingston's borderline snooty parents.
When will Neve Campbell break away from this line of stinkers she's been in and be in something that, oh, I don't know, actually comes out in theatres?
This movie was a very hum-drum boring trying to be a copy cat of "Meet the Parents". Although it had some excellent people in it like "Kathy Bates" and Danny DeVito" they still did'n't make this film any more wonderful to watch.
This movie was definately not what I expected. I'm a fan of Danny DeVito and Ron Livingston, but the writing wasnt very good at all. DeVito and Kathy Bates Characters werent convincing and fell more under the high school play version of obnoxious southerners.
Pretty funny, Danny DeVito and Kathy Bates make a hilarious team. Well, this story is basically where a sucessful man finds out he is adopted. He finds his parents, and they are not exactly upper class. So in the end, they all learn to love each other. Relative strangers was pretty funny, but not an amazing movie.
