This is one that found popularity after Pulp Fiction went to the top of the mainstream charts. Unfortunately, its fails in almost every aspect that Pulp Fiction succeeds.
Easily one of the most daring and brilliant debut films I have ever seen, but it meets an ugly end that a more experienced filmmaker would have handled more tactfully. It is indicative of Tarantino's bold tendencies, but not of his knack for getting the most out of calculated moments.
For some reason, I dont like this film very much because I think everything within the film goes a bit over the top. Things like the violence in the movie. Like the cutting of the ear cutting and that is one of the reasons why I didnt like this film. This is Tarantinos worst film. I thought the plot was a bit too complex for my liking. I wasnt that keen on the acting and the characters in the film. I mean why Mr. Pink, Mr. Orange, Mr. White, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Brown and Mr. Blue? Weird names for a film like this. I thought that this film could have been a bit better.
In some ways it's even better than Pulp Fiction. Taratino's miraculously underrated dialogue and the setting around an unseen but nevertheless visual robbery moves more like a Mamet stage play, but it never once loses the Tarantinian touch.
What can be said about this movie? An amazing movie with such an initiative and original concept. The acting is amazing, especially as the movie comes to a close, the actings - the passion - just shows through even more and more and it keeps getting better, never letting up until the very last seconds.
Yeah, this is it: the project that allowed Tarantino to be known worldwide because of his uniqueness and style that Hollywood needed already. This is just so sweeettt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And awesome cast BTW...
Tarantino's bloody whirlwind of a story is truly a sight to behold. This was before the modern marvel of a director ventured into forced surrealism and pretentious screenplays.
This film is one of the best films I have ever seen.
The scene where Michael Madsen as Mr Blonde is singing and dancing along to Stuck In The Middle With You by Stealers Wheel and cuts the guy ear off is legendary.
I loved the soundtrack to it and the storyline is amazing with a great ending.
5 Stars for sure.
Reservoir Dogs is a classic Quentin Tarantino film about six gangsters to do a diamond robbery. The movie shows how the robbery went from the prespective of the characters as they sit in an abondoned warehouse. Tis movie is definately a must see for Tarantino fans but lacks as much blood and gore as some of his other works of art..but don't get me wrong there is still a bit of blood and gore in this one.
The movie that started all these yapping philosophical villains with their quirky personalities. Take a shot every time the f-bomb is dropped. You'll die of alcohol poisoning.
Taken me ages to finally see this but it was worth the wait I think. Lots of suspense and twists. Loved Madsen's Mr Blonde and totally wasn't expecting what happened you know . . . gonna say obviously. But yeah, good story - I think it was all put together really well with all the back stories and everything. A little slow at times I thought with all the dialogue which was sometimes good, sometimes bad but apart from that I really liked it :)
Quentin Tarantino's freshman slick gangster outing is actually better than Pulp Fiction. Gritty characters, witty dialog, and sarcastic mean-siritedness make for a dark low-budget caper. The story centers upon six hoods dressed in sharp suits who knock over a diamond exchange, (never actually seen). but it goes over very badly due to a rat in their ranks. The twists are strange but satisfying. The really disturbing torture of a lackless cop is truly one of the sickest filmed in the genre.
Just one of the bests! Violent, smart, fun, entertaining. This film changed my whole perspective of movies. I was blown away I never saw any thing like it and I was hooked.
Quentin's first movie. Love how he raised the money and got his movie made. He also got the attention of Harvey Keitel, through his wife. The life of a producer.
