  This is probably the best Resi film to date simply because it looks like a good computer game with some nice looking CGI. Its also the best all CGI film based on a computer game I've seen, smashing 'Final Fantasy', although its been some time since I've seen that. The whole plot isn't much to talk about, its the usual zombie/monster thing, running around dark corridors with a torch and huge research labs that keep having huge meltdowns etc...The thing is with these CGI flicks is they are based within the real Resi Evil videogames unlike the dodgy live action films. This alone gives them the edge which even someone like me can recognise, and I'm no fanboy. Its very atmospheric, you really feel a chill as you follow the characters around. The airport rescue is the most creepy part of the film while the battle against 'Curtis' in mutated form is the most exciting. Despite being released in 2008 this film is actually the first animated Resi Evil film, without going into all the messy details this film will no doubt appeal to the hard core fans big time. Everyone else (such as myself) will find a good horror film but obviously not pick up on all the in-game nods, there are plenty...right??. Its very predictable right to the end, the plot is cliched but its perfect for what it is, which is another chapter in the Resi storyline. Does make you wonder if the people in the stories will actually ever learn that making viruses is bad and only results in mass zombie problems. No matter what happens there is always someone at the end who will kick start it all over again. Baddies huh, never learn.

  As a Resident Evil fan, I really enjoyed it. It has plenty of loyalty to the highly acclaimed franchise.From a sudden zombie outbreak, to a deadly B.O.W breaking out. The CGI effects look good, but not great. For those who aren't into RE, its not a great suggestion. However, its worth a try to any RE fans, especially those who prefer Leon S.Kennedy over Chris Redfield.

  RE-EVAL 09-17-2010 Lost half a star for the fact that it does play like a string of cut scenes from a game and is too brief with no real emotional meat to it other than nostalgia for RE fans. I was being too generous when I gave this sucker four stars; I imagine I was just so relieved to finally get a full length animated horror/scifi that didn't suck, especially one from my favorite game series. Now I just remember how much the movie left me wanting more, mostly because it's a two act flick and needs a third not to satiate my insatiable lust for more RE, but because the story requires it to have real depth of meaning and emotional investment in the characters. _______ Far better than the live action Resident Evil movies. Puts forth a solid case for the end of live action for horror and scifi films, despite the obvious presence of the uncanny valley appearance and speech-to-lip synch problems. The action sequences look great. The movie is basically in two parts: the first is a zombie outbreak in an airport and the second is a massive battle with a G-Virus boss-type character set in a sprawling lab. Fans of the series will love this, and general zombie fans should also check this out. The script plays out like it's just a collection of cutaway sequences from the video game, but that's fine because the game storylines are still superior to the live action scripts that were filmed. Character design for the "boss" character is top notch, as is the layout for the WilPharma lab where the battle takes place (it would be an AWESOME setting to play in a game). The first half with the zombie outbreak leaves one wanting more, and RE fans will rejoice at Claire brandishing an umbrella to take out zombies and may squeak when we get to see Hunnigan's office from a perspective other than a com-screen for the first time. Great to see what Leon's been up to since RE4 and explanation of the rollover of Umbrella into other corporations is a must-know for RE/Biohazard players and fans. My love for the game series and the excellent CG rendering tip my score up to four stars, and if the visual quality were lesser, this would be getting three and a half.

  19/01/2010 (DVD) Not a bad movie. I'm a fan of the game and it was cool to see Clair and Leon in a much advance graphic animation. The animation work on this is pretty Awesome and there were times I thought it looked absolutely real. The movie itself is average and pretty simple. Its probably more enjoyable (or disappointing) for those who played the games only because this version follows the storyline of the game, unlike the physical films which starred Milla Jovovich. Those versions were altered by writers to attract a broader audience I guess. All in all I say that this is not for everyone but I won't stop you cause I liked it and thought it was good enough to watch.

It's a zombie film with a bit of corporate revenge. Other than that is is highly missable.

  A very good CGI animated film with a great level of detail, really makes it realistic as possible. They even used motion capture for the characters in the film for greater realism. At last a Resident Evil film that does tie in with the games! Bringing Claire Redfield and Leon S.Kennedy back together for more Zombie mayhem. Set 7 years after the Resident Evil 2 game where Racoon City was nuked and in the time line of the games after Resi Evil 4 and before 5. The story plot is simple but this is really like watching a playback of playing the game. If your a Resident Evil fan you will love this. The DVD also has tons of extras, making of, Leon interview, Resident Evil 5 footage plenty to entertain you.

  The usual RE plot (of the games that is, not the shitty live action movies) done by the numbers. So, that's not saying a lot, because the games are neither an example of solid writting either. But at least there are no skinny models doing slow-mo flips, or Marilyn Manson on the soundtrack. I wish they would stop playing it straight and just returned to the camp self-aware humour of RE4's story. You can never go wrong when you have a napoleon-dressed midget as one of the main villians.

  Defintley better than the movies, Degneration continues the battle against the strains of virus which are now being sold on the black market to terrorists and militants groups intended on achieving the upper hand. Int he US, a pharmecutical company, with support of the US government are working on an antitode to supress the virus and are initially successful. But when an outbreak occurs at an airport, we see Claire Redfiled and Leon Kennedy spring back into action to stop the virus spreading and uncover another evil conspiracy, which is becoming an never ending legacy of Umbrella Corporation. Im not a big fan of modern anime, but being a huge fan of RE since the 90's, how can I diss this one?? RE 2 and 4 being my fav games in the series, its good to see the original characters back and kicking ass and out of control mutates. The graphics and visuals are pretty good, the action well created, it is a cool movie to watch on the day off or if you're in the mood.

The characters look so real - the detail in these CGI creations is amazing - that I can tell the difference between them and the stars of the previous movie!

My mind may be focused on how much fun I had watching this with my friends and going on wild tangents during the film, but this was still a pretty ok entry into the Resident Evil Cannon, and certainly better than the theatrical features. Viewer beware however, the movie is set right into the games and one can easily become lost if they aren't too familiar. Angela Miller: Please, Leon, don't try to save me. Leon S. Kennedy: If you don't try to save one life, you'll never save any.

  I'll start by saying first and foremost that I haven't played a Resident Evil game once this century and didn't know about half of what was going on in this movie. But I think my ignorance to this ongoing storyline has nothing to do with my gripes about it. The story for Resident Evil: Degeneration seemed so stop and go, compounded with the awful cliched dialogue all I could do to maintain interest was turn my viewing of this movie into a private MST3K episode. And I was by myself! The animation for the most part was spectacular but every once in a while it definitely headed for the uncanny valley. If you don't know what that is I suggest you start watching 30 Rock. I wouldn't call Resident Evil: Degeneration necessary viewing but it beats the hell out of most of the live action ones.

  *Sigh* Well, we have yet another video game adaptation on our hands. They are always hit and miss but always interesting to see. I have a great love for the Resident Evil video game series and I'm always somewhat disappointed when it's translated outside the video game world. With this one I can safely say...it's the best adaptation of the series so far...but that's not saying too much. The story and the plot are all over the place in this. I had a hard time following the story and keeping up with who was who. I always knew the Umbrella Corporation was behind it all. Now suddenly the focus is this other pharmacutical company. When did this happen? To me, the story details just seemed lost in between the action sequences. The animation is nice, but still CGI humans give me the creeps, no matter what the story is. The animation is also slightly jerky in spots and not very natural, but then again, you have to walk that fine line between realism and animation and sometimes that line can be blurred. There was one shot of Claire getting into an elevator and giving Leon a wink as the doors closed that I thought was particularly sexy. Don't know if that was the intention of the filmmakers, but I had to rewind to see it again. ;) The score is pretty good for the most part. It is completely orchestral and bombastic most of the time, while being intimate other times. So it's not totally an action score, more akin to a dramatic piece. Personally, I found this movie very uninteresting and not really worth too many replays, but I can see why people are digging it, it's just not for me. Even as a fan of the game, at the end I felt like I wanted more. And, for god sake's, can we please be rid completely of 'Matrix' style animation, particularly when someone fires a gun?!!

  I'm pleased whenever a video game developer decides to make their own game from CGI, instead of turning over the property to an outside studio that may or may not know how to make a decent movie from the property. Resident Evil: Degeneration doesn't manage to be as good as SquareEnix's Advent Children, but it does serve as an equally good alternative to the live action Resident Evil movies. The CGI is very sharp, but the character models still have that unnatural jerkiness that keeps the realism from being too immersive. I've almost given up on seeing that problem solved in my lifetime. That doesn't stop some scenes from looking almost photo-realistic, and the faces of the people are very expressive. It all looks like a high-quality, video game cut scene. And I mean that in a good way. It was refreshing to see that the story in this movie actually ties into the canon Resident Evil plot, and completely ignores whatever the hell the story of the live action movies is supposed to be. It would have made a good plot for an actual game. The movie is divided up into two distinct halves, and I definitely prefer the first half over the second. The movie starts to drag on in its later half, and a lot of the finale is just one long chase scene. Yes, that is straight out of the games, but it could have been implemented in a more exciting way. Capcom shows some potential for good movie-making here, but they don't quite have their craft perfected yet. The voice acting was good for the most part, but sometimes the audio was not synced very well to the mouth movements. There are some pacing problems, and the plot and script could have both used a little bit of a rewrite. This is a good first effort, but in the end it amounts to little more than an extension of the story and a way to help drum up excitement for the upcoming RE5. It was nice to see Claire and Leon back in action together, and I thought that the new characters that were introduced were interesting as well. Hopefully, Capcom can use what they learned here and make another Resident Evil CGI movie that is a little closer to the outstanding quality of the game series.

  The original cast of Capcoms Resident Evil 2 returns! <br><br>Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield once again crosses paths, 7 years after Racoon City. <br><br><center><img src="http://content8.flixster.com/photo/11/40/93/11409338_gal.jpg" width=200></center><br>Resident evil game fanatics will surely love the additional characters and familiar faces that will come up in this full CGI movie. It follows thru what happened after the RE2 game story. Umbrella is no more, but like the virus, the evil has managed to get a hold of something else.<br><br> A couple of scenes in the movie actually reminded me of Final Fantasy, and even though RE is supposed to be horryfying, certain scenes were made to be funny, and some scenes were definitely placed in there to stir up its viewers emotions. If some scenes dont grab you at all, youll still have plenty to choose from. <br><br>This is definitely worth getting for your collection. 5 minutes from the start of the flick yould already be pumped up from the action, and if you havent fallen in love with one of the characters by the time the movie has finished, whoaa...   I don't think there is any question as to how good this CG animation is for the <i>Resident Evil</i> franchise. Forget the first 3 live action movies and just watch this one instead.<p>As usual, being familiar with the games is a plus. Is it required to view this? I don't think so, but this film is geared toward those fans.</p><p>To be really specific, the plot takes place 7 years after the events of the 2nd <i>Resident Evil</i> video game. Let's just forget about that and talk about the story itself. There is nothing spectacular about it, but it is more than enough to hold your attention for the entire 90 minutes. There are basically 2 main settings. The first is the airport, in which the film plays out in typical zombie fashion. The second is a huge pharmaceutical headquarters, in which the film plays out like a typical science fiction actioneer.</p><p>The pace is fairly quick as it only gets slow for a portion of the middle. It never gets boring though. This is because the CG is impressive. The settings and backgrounds are highly realistic and so are the people themselves. The only huge flaw is the voices and lips not really matching up, but at this time, this is the norm when it comes to CG films and games.</p><p>The action is a plenty, especially in the latter portions, but the better stuff takes place in the airport scenes, which is in the earlier parts of the film. The violence is bloody and while this is an R-rated picture, it isn't all that bad.</p><p>The voice work is good. Paul Mercier matches as Leon Kennedy, while Alyson Court does a sexy Claire Redfield. The rest of the cast along with the sound effects are up to par as well.</p><p><i>Resident Evil: Degeneration</i> may not be the perfect zombie virus film, but if you are a fan of the games, this is a terrific watch.
