This one makes it to 4 stars based purely on the acting. It is a performance driven film as there isn?t so much as a storyline more about a fly on the wall watching of the ins and outs of a couple's relationship.
The content acting-wise was huge and I?m sure quite challenging...( read more) -

One of the most powerful movies i have ever seen. A story that is commentary on our western society (set in the 50s which only makes it more extreme).
A FANTASTIC FILM! This movie stuck with me longer than any movie has. People either love it or hate it because it hits too close...( read more) -

It was well acted, well directed but one of the most unrelentingly grim films I've ever seen.

It seems that I am the only one to like this movie on here. I thought the first half was a great buildup of just intensity whilst they have some small fights, but then everything explodes and it's fascinating to see these two, whom still have great chemistry together. When Leo's ...( read more)

This was the worst & most depressing movie I have seen all year, To make it worse it dragged on and on. It was just weird. It was one of those movies where I had to watch something else afterward just to get it out of my head.

Triste e pesante, ma non assolutamente in maniera negativa.
È uno di quei film che devono essere metabolizzati, che rimangono in testa per tanto tanto tempo. -

Wow . . . If you know me, you know that Kate Winslet is on my all-time favorite actors list. For me to put a living actor on my all-time favorite list takes some great work. If you know me, you also know that Leonardo DiCaprio not only is not on my all-time favorite actor list,...( read more)

What does a cult 1961 Richard Yates novel about a 1950s marriage rotting in the burbs have to say to a new century? Plenty, and hold on, because the raw and riveting Revolutionary Road hits you where it hurts. To hear Kate Winslet, as April Wheeler, express her desire "to be wond...( read more)

Close up on the interpersonal horror of a relationship full of misunderstandings and selfishness.

October 28, 2009
An intense film, yet quite disturbing as well with it's unique edge. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio star as a young married couple in the '50s whose lives are based on what they believe to be of the higher ideals, only to find themselves on emotional rollercoasters due to the...( read more)

"No one forgets the truth, Frank, they just get better at lying."
Without a shadow of a doubt, this is one of the most powerfully written, directed and performed films I have ever seen. Justin Haythe has superbly adapted quite an interior novel and made it seem effortle

A very powerful examination of how we value our lives in Western society. Despite being set in the 1950s, the experiences and lessons are equally applicable to the modern day. Mendes takes us on a journey through the difficulties in accepting life (and long-term love) on its ow...( read more)

Sehr stimmiger Film, der dem Roman nicht gerecht werden kann. Zwei starke Hauptdarsteller bewegen sich in einem tollen Setting.

Not as good as I was expecting or hoping, despite starring who I believe are the best actor and actress of our time. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslett are stellar as usual and Michael Shannon was outstanding.

This is Sam Mendes doing what he does best. Feels like a direct companion to "American Beauty". Great performances. Great score by Thomas Newman (who did the score for "American Beauty". At first the ending feels a bit heavy handed but there's some genius last shots that made it ...( read more)

It was a pretty amazing movie, in that tragic, angst-induldging I-will-never-watch-this-again-way. Dead on, with our social behaviour, how we relate to ouselves and to our lives and extrodinary, extrodinary performances at the center of it. Winslet and DiCaprio delivers, it's obv...( read more)

A thorough smash of sweet dreams of middle class, as well as of pretentious people, like me. John Givings the psycho is the only one who can see through the whole picture; probably only schizo can resist & dealing with the harshness & ugliness off the real world. Or, one has to s...( read more)

So boring, dull, oscar-wannabeish and unoriginal. Even Winslet couldn't save this film.

September 29, 2009
This is an incredibly well-acted movie. The issue is that it is very dull in places, and quite drawn out. It is a complete study of the dissolution of a marriage/relationship in a way. Love & hate really do go hand in hand at times, because they are the strongest emotions. It is ...( read more)
