Funny how every review I read from people on here say "they don't really understand it, but it's a great movie." I challenge someone to give me an accurate read of the story Richie is trying to tell.
This pile of pants is probably the worst film you will ever see. Should you have the misfortune to go to see it, don't say you weren't warned. When I say pants I don't mean nice pants either or even run-of-the-mill pants but proper minging pants. I defy anybody, who sees this, to leave the cinema with the faintest idea of what it is about.

A brilliant and spectacular adreniline-driven crime-thriller. A barrels blazing instant classic. A pure knockout. Intensely gripping, compelling and incrediable. It's original, stunning and exhilerating. Bold, riveting and utterly explosive. This is Director, Guy Richie's masterpiece. A dark film noir that has all barrels blazing. Plenty of smarts and surprises that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's powerful and unforgettable. A well-crafted and well-written flick. Clever, very stylish, blistering, intriguing and mind-blowing. Great twist and turns that shatter the senses. The suspense snaps and crackels like live wire. An absolute psychological mind teaser that will grab you and not let go. You will be grabbing your seat right till the very end to it's explosive climax. Heart-pounding and mind-racing. An excellent, wickedly cool and very entertaining movie. An awsome cast. Jason Statham has never been better, giving a powerhouse performance, he just proves more that he is a force to be reckoned with. Ray Liotta is electrifying. Andre Benjamin is excellent. Vincent Pastore is brilliant. Terrance Maynard and Mark Strong are teriffic.

I had a hard time following this movie. Which is funny to say since I actually new how it would end 20 minutes into it. But hey, when in Rome. ..... Annnnyways, "Revolver" has some good action and a few decent characters, (Liotta played what he plays best and Mark Strong rocked the bald killer theme) but all in all it just doesn't match up to Guy Ritchies success level. Oh and the whole ego shtick, not worth it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I was supposed to be on heavy drugs to understand this movie. Or hell, maybe the whole point was not to understand it, but yet just go completely INSANE like everyone involved in this film.

The credentials are there: Guy Ritchie (Snatch and Lock Stock) and Jason Statham. The story is strong... but this movie completely falters when executed. The first half of this film is great... and then it throws back a liter of Jack and takes a nose dive off a cliff.

The art and creativity are there for Ritchie, but it's almost like he over thought the plot in the end. He made it too intricate and complex at the expense of ignoring plot holes as long as the East Coast. Too much was left unexplained.

Oh well, I really wanted to like this movie, but it was too much like waking up in an alley with no pants on after an acid trip.

The only notable performance was Statham... he does an excellent job fighting his inner demons. And boy, was Ray Liotta bad in this movie or what? Was I the only one laughing at his over-the-top loud yelling spat at the end?

Another very good and very misunderstood spiritual film. In my view, the best Guy Ritchie film yet, althouth it is rated as his second worst film by most critics.

Revolver is an interesting and well shot movie...things Guy Ritchie tends to do well. His movies also tend to be complex and intertwining. This is no exception. The story is well thought out and constructed but manages to walk the line of confusing too many times. You are almost clueless for most of the movie as to what exactly is going on. It's a film that deserves a couple of views to fully appreciate what is happening. The music worked great for this and followed the quick pace. The acting was solid. Not sure why this fell into obscurity while Ritchie's other films did well...even though I do prefer "Lock, Stock" and "Snatch" to this. Worth the watch especially if you like Guy Ritchie's other works.

This movie was very weird, about facing your inner demons and your ego. It has roots in kabballa, and alot of people just didnt get it. I thought it was brilliant

The worst thing about this film isn't the scene where Jason Statham shouts at himself for half an hour, neither is it the scene where Ray Liotta stands in a thong and shouts, or even the whole "blue and yellow make green" theme (it's an intellectual film, you see) it's not even the fact that Guy Ritchie decided not to have any credits to thank all those who helped him make this. No, the worst part about this confusing, over the top, contrived mess of a film is that Guy Ritchie says most people won't understand it because it's above them. Twat.

Excellently stylized Ritchie film, which is a tale of philosophical and spiritual growth, wearing the clothes a gangster revenge mystery.

When dealing with films with more abstract or conceptual themes and ideas it helps to have well developed co...(read more) ncrete images, characters who are identifiable or relatable, or some point of exposition when all, or all necessary, will be revealed. This movie lacks these elements, and though theyre not necessary for every movie every time, they could have helped her. Where all the characters outside of Liotta and Statham are all one dimensional, even when theyre doing and saying mysterious things.

Though I admire Ritchie for trying to bring an old but still very counter intuitive idea to the big screen in a pulp film of this sort, it just didnt work.

There's enough plot holes here to make "Southland Tales" look like "The Bicycle Thieves", and none of the former's sense of humor or irony.

I appreciated this films "message" more than I did the actual movie. Instead of having Deepak Chopra explain the films themes during the credits, it would have helped if a character from the story explained some of the events, outside of Andre 3000's muddled monologues. If it's necessary to have an expert adress the audience during the credits in a fiction film, something has gone wrong.

Ironically if Ritchie had perhaps not used so much of what this film was supposedly so against, this film might have been something that really connects with people as opposed to just confusing them or going completely over their heads. As it is it's just intertesting, and even then mildly so, or maybe Ive just got too much ego, and my mind will not accept a game this big....

i thought it was great...it wasn't Snatch...but still very fun to watch...in some ways i can see how this movie can be polarizing...the plot was a little harder to follow but none the less still very entertaining...

Guy Ritchie tries to make a film sans humor. The narrative holds one's interest tolerably well for a while, then falls apart apparently trusting in one's remaining interest in the twist, which, unfortunately, one sees coming.

Jake Green: One thing I've learned in the last seven years: in every game and con there's always an opponent, and there's always a victim. The trick is to know when you're the latter, so you can become the former.

Guy Ritchie follows up his disaster of a movie involving his wife Madonna to make another crime thriller, however this time it is not a dark comedy gangster flick mixed with great visual flare. This movie keeps the visual flare, but wraps the crime thriller aspect in a riddle.

This is easily a film that will be frustrating for many and thats because it goes way beyond something one would expect from Ritchie, given his previous to crime flicks involving a fast paced affair about talking cool and hilarity and violence ensuing.

Jason Statham stars as Jake Green. He is a man who has just gotten out of a seven year prison sentence. His being in prison was a result of something done by a corrupt casino owner, Macha played by Ray Liotta. Statham has emerged from prison with plenty of knowledge due to his experience during that time and plans to get revenge on Liotta.

Jake Green: The greatest enemy will hide in the last place you would ever look.

This is only a bare sketch of how tricky this film gets. Plenty of subplots abound involving what Green has learned in prison, Liotta's own problems, and what is going on between Green and two mysterious loan sharks played by Vincent Pastore and Andre Benjamin.

The plot is very convoluted and as mentioned, will go on to frustrate many as time goes by, but I enjoyed it. Somehow it kept me interested despite having times when I wasn't sure how to take parts.

It also helps that Ritchie's visual style is great throughout. Along with the soundtrack, the whole movie looks and sounds wonderful. It is inventive and helpful in keeping one entertained.

Statham works here, playing somewhat against type. I enjoyed Liotta's panicked tough guy. Andre Benjamin is probably the best of all, managing to seem very suave every time he's on screen. Mark Strong (cue IMDB search) is also around as a very cool hitman, which I quite liked.

Overall, Ritchie definitely took a cue from Richard Kelly in terms of warping a premise into confusion, but his style and my basic enjoyment while watching this flick gave me a satisfied feeling at the end.

Jake Green: There is something about yourself that you don't know. Something that you will deny even exists, until it's too late to do anything about it. It's the only reason you get up in the morning. The only reason you suffer the shitty puss, the blood, the sweat and the tears. This is because you want people to know how good, attractive, generous, funny, wild and clever you really are. Fear or revere me, but please, think I'm special. We share an addiction. We're approval junkies. We're all in it for the slap on the back and the gold watch. The hip-hip-hoo-fuckin' rah. Look at the clever boy with the badge, polishing his trophy. Shine on you crazy diamond, because we're just monkeys wrapped in suits, begging for the approval of others.

The worst Ritchie film I have seen. The plot is not impossible to follow, but it is difficult and takes a LOT of short cuts.

I'll be the first to admit I absolutley adore Guy Ritchie, so if anything writing this review I wanted to give it the highest rating possible. I mean, Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels was excellent and Snatch. remains one of my all-time favorite films. However, Swept Away was ungodly awful, and while his latest offering Revolver isn't nearly as bad as Swept Away it certainly is not the return to form we expected from Guy Ritchie. It's loud, obnoxious and not very good at tall. The perfromances range from solid to awful. Ray Liotta, an actor whom I respect and admire very much, is just horrible in his role. Last time I checked yelling at the top of your lungs for two hours isn't acting. Vincent Pastore is awful as well, while the only saving graces as far as acting goes are Jason Statham and Andre Benjamin. They aren't even that good, they are just decent and acceptable. The highlight of the movie is the polished sense of style but certainly not the screenplay. The screenplay is so jumbled, confusing and illogical you would think a twelve year old wrote it. The film's style is enjoyable but pretty pointless. There are random sequences of animation that don't make any sense what-so-ever and don't even work. All in all, Revolver is a very disappointing film. It's pretty to look at, but it's pretty freakin' hollow. Grade: C-

This movie was a pretty complex film. Ritchie has borrowed so much from other gangster/crime movies that it really doesn't work. And when he also starts to bring his inner David Lynch into the movie, it totally fails.

There's not much what I liked in this. The script was horrible, the score was pompously horrible and the acting... Back to dramaschool guys. Ray Liotta overacts in ways I've never seen before. Even Jason Statham fails to deliver. Ritchie's films have had some cool characters but you ain't finding them in this one, for sure.

Ritchie should dump his wife, the popdiva. Look what it did to Sean Penn. His career lifted up in a good way. Ritchie's career is going downhill so fast that I hope he's wearing a helmet, otherwise he'll get badly hurt...

I guess you really are your own worst enemy. Convoluted as hell but with interesting results, Ritchie examines the human psyche using the gangster film much like In Bruges uses gangsters to examine the religious themes of afterlife. An entertaining watch that could be my favourite Ritchie film to date (granted I haven't seen Swept Away, but I have a feeling it won't be much competition). Revolver reminds me a lot of another critically maligned surreal gangster flick Mad Dog Time (or Trigger Happy) though it is slightly better. The performances by the leads are uniformly excellent with the exception of Andre Benjamin who's amateurish acting does suit the role and Statham stands out in one of his best performances to date. Sure the film could be criticized for being over the top, but that seems what Ritchie was intending, so it's a pointless criticism, and personally I like over the top so all the critics are wrong. Or is that my ego talking?
