After the matriarch (Jill Clayburgh) of a Southern family abruptly leaves her husband Warren (Albert Finney), it's up to 17-year-old Lucille (Kathryn Erbe) to keep the family together. Further complicating matters is the sudden arrival of eldest daughter Rae (Suzy Amis), who moves back home after discovering that she's pregnant.
