Ridin' the Trail
Although produced in mid 1939, this, the last starring Western of former opera baritone Fred Scott, did not find a release until the following year when it was sold outright on the states rights market. Scott starred as Fred Martin, a U.S. Marshal tracking a gang of cattle rustlers. Overhearing the foreman of the Lazy B (Jack Ingram) conspiring with the rustlers, Fred dons the disguise of a singing troubadour -- enabling screenwriter Phil Dunham to throw in a couple of sagebrush ballads.
