Not the best film these two could have done after all this time for a reunion, but I still loved it! These two feed off each other so well, you can't help but laugh at some of the one liners. Some pretty good twists to the story - definitely worth the watch.
The characters were great, especially the super freak of a CSI technician who was dating DeNiro's character. But, the mystery was predictable. Heat used these 2 much more effectively.
"Most people respect the badge. Everybody respects the gun."
After 30 years as partners in the pressure cooker environment of the NYPD, highly decorated Detectives David Fisk and Thomas Cowan should be ready for retirement, but aren't. Before they can hang up their badges, they are called in to investigate the murder of a notorious pimp, which appears to have ties to a case they solved years before.
Like the original murder, the victim is a suspected criminal whose body is found accompanied by a four line poem justifying the killing. When additional crimes take place, it becomes clear the detectives are looking for a serial killer, one who targets criminals that have fallen through the cracks of the judicial system. His mission is to do what the cops can't do on their own, take the culprits off the streets for good. The similarities between the recent killings and their earlier case raise a nagging question: Did they put the wrong man behind bars?
Review I can only muster a word after watching this movie and that is, disappointing. I had a lot of things riding on in this flick and the reunion of two of Hollywood's celebrated actors is one to be truly awaited. It turns out, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino aren't the same as they were in their prime many years ago. Sure they can still act and that is the reason why I'm giving this movie such a rating, only on the leads acting alone, but you have to admit, the magic between the two is not as powerful as it was when they did Heat back in 1995. There is a lot of swearing and F-bombs in this movie but that doesn't make it good, even if the one cursing is Robert De Niro or Al Pacino.
The material is weak to begin with and the execution is poor, both the actors are this movie's only saving grace. What made this movie really horrible is the twist, the lamest, poorly executed twist whose stench can already be smelled the minute the movie starts. Jon Avnet, the director, also made the equally disappointing 88 Minutes with Al Pacino and now this. That's strike two. One more and you're out.
People slated this movie for no real reason. This is De Niros best performance for ages - I actually enjoyed him in it. Felt Pacinos character should have had more to do and that the twist was a little too easy, even for me. But i enjoyed it and I reckon everyone should check it out for themselves.
the only plus thing in this flick I think about it main actors, and I love them both .. but the story, the "intonation" of the character is so flawless .. story twist pretty nice .. but its not enough ..
2 of the greatest actors ever in the same flick , Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. That was one reason that made me interested to watch this crime thriller movie. But the movie aren't as powerful and excited as i had wanted it to be. The story is nice and decent acting but they both have made much better work before. Altho its a watchable movie despite that and i enjoyed it a bit and it had a very good twist so take a chance for this one.
Pacino and DeNiro two great actors of our time, so with both of these in the same film had me really looking forward to it. Heat was a great film, but we didn't get to see them on screen together that much. So here we a film in which they play cops, tracking down a serial killer who is picking off criminals, who might just be a cop. So it sounded like a decent story too. Unfortunately this is a completely run of the mill police drama with no surprises. Pacino and DeNiro stumble through the film themselves, and can't even turn this into an average film. I don't know if it would have got a higher rating if they weren't in it.
"Most people respect the Badge, everyone respects the Gun" will go down as another great movie line. Despite a high powered cast headed by DiNiro & Pacino, Director Avnet "just doesn't pack the gear" to deliver satisfaction, knowing this film would inevitably be compared to "Heat", unfortunately left to pale in the comparison (but on the other hand, "Heat" was left wanting in comparison to the TV movie it was based on, the superb "L.A. Takedown" by Michael Mann). The film is nonetheless watchable for fans of fictional NYPD genre faux police procedurals. Due to the work by Pacino & DiNiro, it barely nudges into the "Badass-MoFo" category. Take it for what it is, not for the potential it fails to live up to...(Note:Added video Remix to this film @ my Flixter page-"Guns&Badges")...
It's great to see Al Pacino and Robert De Niro on screen together again, the chemistry is there for all to see. Warlberg, John Leguizamo and 50 Cent also played their roles with distinction. A good cop thriller with good twists.
Really enjoyed this one! I saw the trailer and got very excited, and heard nothing but bad reviews. However, I saw it for myself and quite enjoyed it! If you love a good cop movie (and love Pacino and De Niro) check it out. at 93 minutes you don't have much to lose!
Well, we have 2 great actors like Pacino and De Niro in a picture called righteous kill that almost had the job done of killing me :( A ridiculous good cop/bad cop motion picture!!
I must say that 'Righteous Kill' is a B-movie with a great cast and good acting, the story is satisfactory. Obviously, this movie stars two of the greatest actors in history. Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino. They are fantastic together and have great chemistry. The main element is that it is a psychological cop-drama. It never seems too unbelievable or boring. Overall, 'Righteous Kill' is great entertainment.
Definitely a disappointment. The acting was nothing to write home about, the direction was sub par and the story uses the same gimmick that the screenwriter (Russell Gewirtz) used for Inside Man. I saw the twist coming all the way and beyond that this was just a mediocre cop movie.
This movie is filled with great entertainment & acting except for curtis jackson. he needs to stick to rapping instead of trying to be an actor. this movie is kinda predictable but still good overall. The story takes place at New York City, where two vetern NYPD detectives hunt a vigilante who may be one of their own. Each victim that Deniro & Pacino talk to; about the serial killer thats been on a rampage killing spree , ends up dead at their house every night. So, the two detectives have to find and arrest the serial killer, before New York City becomes the murder capitol of the world. Okay, im going to tell you who the serial killer is. Im not.... Hahaha Gotcha! No, you'll just have to watch the movie and figure out the mystery. I'll just tell you; "its very shocking". This is one of the best suspense movies ive seen in decades.
this is the first movie which Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro have starred in a movie together since Heat. this is a story about two Veteran New York City Detectives hunt a vigilante who may be one of their own, great performances by the two actors. great set peices and also with a great story and this movie was well directed. a good film from director Jon Avnet. here are some of the taglines for this movie.
Most people respect the badge. Everybody respects the gun.
The most acclaimed actors of our time in the film event of the year.
I so want to see this movie! I watched an interview with the director, and he said hat Al Pacino and Robert De Niro really took on the roles, made it their own and hat it was a fantastic movie!
