Plot: The prequel to the horror film Ringu, this movie provides the background story of how Sadako later became the vengeful murdering spirit. The story starts with her as a shy, somewhat withdrawn, college...( read more read more... ) student who nonetheless gets involved in a drama club. The director thinks she has talent, but some of the other performers start to get jealous of the attention he gives her. Meanwhile, a reporter investigating Sadako's spiritualist mother thinks there's something very suspicious about the young woman, and arrives on campus to confront Sadako just as a series of strange deaths start sweeping through the drama club.

Ringu0 is haunting and beautiful. It's definatly the most seriously dramatic and passionate of the ring films. Saadako is represented as a person here with a dark side. But also a wanting side that wants to be forgiven and accepted and most importantly loved for her uncontrollable actions. Their are strong performances and the a vivid and secret spouting storyline that makes you look at each film completely different. In an age of mindless sequels Ring 0 is a perfect film. It balances horror with beauty and love with hate. The film is as much a tear jerker as a screamer. And the true story of what happened will stay with you!

I loved this film. It plays like a Greek tragedy that makes you really sympathize with Sadako. She wasn't always an unstoppable killing machine. Not only that, it has two scares that would surely go down in my top-ten best horror movie moments of all time.

I might see this to get an idea of why that freaky chick comes out of the video tape and kills everyone in The Ring.

Interesting cross between Carrie and The Ring. I liked the way they kept Sadako both creepy and scary though the film does take a while to pick up steam. Also, it's one of the few films I recall where I really hoped just about everyone dies.

First of all - the fact that it's called "Ringu" in the US is racist and annoying...

As for the film - this one was a piece of shit... it's a boring prequel that basically ruins the backstory and mystique of the original. Just stay away from this complete failure of a film. I have known some people who liked it as a bit of a documentary or something, but I just found it relentlessly dull.

Leaps and bounds better than the American remake; truly chilling, truly scary film that also serves as a metaphor about how the digital present is dealing with the ghosts of an earlier age.

A boring prequel, it explain the origin of the J-Terror, but like others prequels it become so boring and predictable, it could be better with some horror scenes.

One of the best Japanese movies I've ever seen, unfortunately overshadowed by Ringu 1 and 2. Love the silence in this and the girl who played Sadako.

There's parts of this I really got into, but unfortunately there's a lot of issues with it, particularly in the film's design and the very pointless "sidestory" stuff to the characters. It needed a bit more focus.

Not as good as I'd hoped, based on how amazing the first two films were. Might need to watch it again though.

I actually almost cried when she hallucinated in the well. In the house when she approached the two women and they shot themselves, I would have done the same.

A whole different style. This makes everything clear, and stopped my asking questions. But you must have seen the other movies, or it'll ruin some of the shocks (indirectly).

There's one bit in this film where sada jumps round a corner, and it's extremely inelegant and she looks very manly. I laughed quite hard, then when I went to bed that night I actually realised how bloody terrifying that one move was
