Road House Reviews and Ratings

I'll admit it: I loved Patrick Swayze after seeing Dirty Dancing. You can imagine my disappointment when I saw this crappy movie. The fights are lame, the story is stupid and it's a total waste of time.

Dalton is the Cooler in bars; He backs up and directs the bouncers. He takes a job in a Road House that has gotten far too rough. His attempts to clean things up put him in conflict with Brad Wesley, the town bully and rich person. Things heat up.

Not as cheesy as I would've thought. Basically an Americanized version of The Big Boss. Sam Elliott rocks!

PATTY S. and Sam Elliot! Yes! Well, this has to be one of my biggest guilty pleasures! It's a real "manly" film, but with an actual story, an excellent soundtrack, and some fabulous '80s cheese! Not to mention, Jeff Healey, who fronts the band that serves as the Double Deuce's ma...( read more)in act nearly every night!

I remember thinking Road House was one of the best films in the world when I was a kid! I also had a thing for Patrick Swayze films. No idea why, but whenever a new movie came out with him in it, I was there! Anyway, I knew I loved Road House when I was a child, but I couldn't seem to remember all of the details, so I decided to re-watch it last week. And honestly, I still think it's brilliant! I know I should be shot for saying that, but I really do love this movie! The dialog is stunning! Road House gives us some of the cheesiest lines known to man! Some notable ones include: "The Double Douche", "Come on, chicken dick", and my personal favourite, "I fuck guys like you in prison!" There is without a doubt some slight homoeroticism to Road House. Everybody is aware of it, but the fact that they try so hard to ignore it, makes this movie even more amusing!

If you don't take it too seriously, Road House can be an excellent film! It's not a "oh my God, this film just changed my life" type of movie, but it's highly entertaining!

SPOILER!!! It was cool until they killed Sam Elliott. They had no reason to pass the torch that way.

All I can say to that one is Hello Baby, when it comes to a hunk like Patrick Swayze playing a head bouncer of a saloon. He can bounce me any day of the week.

Spectacularly silly film with Patrick Swayze as Dalton, the best bouncer there is(and an NYU philosophy major to boot)who is hired to clean up a hellhole bar and tangles with the local fatcat who runs the town."Pain don't hurt"(!?) Dalton wisely intones at one point, one of many ho...( read more)wlingly bad lines in the script.Swayze has a lame romance with the local doctor who naturally doesn't approve of his violent ways and Sam Elliot turns up as Swayze's grizzled mentor.Swayze's mullet is also featured prominately,so much it should have shared top billing. The villain's righthand henchman actually says "prepare to die" when facing off with the Swayz and utters one of the most bizarre, head scratching lines in movie history.Guarantee you'll know it when you hear it.An 80's camp classic.

    I enjoyed this movie.
  • September 2, 2007
This is barely better than an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger. An interesting little premise, with a lot of potential that crashes out faster than, well, Patrick Swayze. The gradual decline of this movie is hilarious, right up to the ending, which might be the corniest ending eve...( read more)r made. Too entertaining in the first half to not watch the second half, but wow, does this fall off. I'd say it climaxes when Swayze has to look sad, or you know... act... he just can't do it.

The movie is pretty corny. My wife likes it because of Swayze, I'm less impressed
