Massively overrated at the time, I always wanted Alan Rickman to kill Kevin Costner in the end.

In its time this was huge, I don't know why, I never liked it. Its very bad and very inaccurate. Costner is laughable as Hood and Rickman, although funny, is waaay too pantomime, the whole cast is poor really, and the action and look is very obviously on sets. The title song from...( read more)

I love the interaction between Costner's Robin Hood and Freeman's Muslim friend. The culture clash between Christian and Muslim back in this time period is a good concept, though probably not historically likely to happen in this way. It is because of the Muslim world that many...( read more)

The perfect Robin Hood adventure, taking all the bits and pieces the story needs, with the classic river staff fight, the splinting an arrow with an arrow, a certain Sean Connery in a King Lionheart cameo, a fantastic villain in the shape of Alan Rickman, Morgan Freeman as a side...( read more)

I know what's wrong with this movie and I like it anyway. It is not profound, or magically romantic or epic. What it is is fun to watch and has enough funny dialogue to carry it out from the dreck pile. I would have cast someone else as Robin Hood and Marion, but everyone else wa...( read more)

July 19, 2008Agreed, Alan Rickman makes one of the best bad guys of all time. Costner did well too though.
Favorite line ever though has to go to Duncan and Azeem
"Curse those Moors and Saracens. If it wasn't for their ungodly ways, master Robin would never have left. What manner of name is Azeem? Scottish, Cornish?" - Duncan
"Moorish" - Azeem -

July 1, 2007As a child I must have watched this film about a 100 times. I was completely obsessed with it. Now when i watch it i notice it has corny acting and silly characters, but I still can't help but love it for the pure sentimental value it holds.

May 7, 2007I like how they included a little history on the Crusades in the film. It ran very smoothly, flowed nicely, and overall, its defintely one of the classics!

February 14, 2007I give it a 3 because of Alan Rickman and Morgan Freeman to a certain extent. Kevin Kostner is not Robin Hood, whose only purpose is to make Men in Tights that much funnier.
