I think anyone who has seen this can attest to two things- this is a cheese fest and a giant Ramones ad/music video. I like the Ramones and this movie wasn't completely horrible, but I wouldn't consider it re-watchable camp either.
Joey Ramone might be the ugliest fuck I've ever seen. Even Clint Howard looks good next to him. P.J. Soles character Riff Randell is a pain in the ass..
This film is not only about the Ramones but they are in it, which makes it automatically genius. Not only that though because it truly is a good story, and Riff Randell is totally one of the coolest characters to grace the big screen
A true cult classic and Great Promo Material for The Romones as they perform a number of their songs in the movie. Also is very anti-authority and anti-establishment so be warned
Had I seen this while I was a teenager I probably would have loved it. I'm embarrassed to admit that as much as I do like the Ramones music, I'm totally unfamiliar with most of their work, yet appreciate and understand their influence on much of the music of my teen years--hair band metal. What was I thinking?!
Joe Dante shows here the potential he proved in some of his later films (Gremlins, Innerspace, The Burbs). In my opinion, he's either a director you "get or don't get," and in the former, such as my case, he provides great entertainment.
A movie that I really enjoyed because it's a time in which I wish I grew up during. Also it shows the teenage rebellion brilliantly. A little over exaggerated but still fun nonetheless. The main reason why I loved the film is because I love The Ramones. ^_^ They're the best band to ever grace our dreadful planet. xD
I mean honestly whats not to love about a movie that revolves solely around The Ramones?? You have a bunch of students that worship The Ramones. They are doing everything they can to get their hands on tickets to The Ramones concert. One student wrote a song for The Ramones and is trying to get it into the hands of Joey, the lead singer. They have a bitch principal that does everything she can to take The Ramones and this "dreadful noise" out of the students lives. Plus The Ramones play like 5 of their songs. I think they played more than that but it's a rough estimate. Sounds like a movie orgasm to me. xD Sounds like a movie that I would love and I did. ^_^
The rating I gave it may be a little biased due to my love for The Ramones but I don't care. This movie is for all of The Ramones fans out there. Even if you aren't a fan or even if you haven't heard any of their songs watch this film. Hear what real music sounds like. ^_^ By the way, if you haven't heard a Ramones song you need to get the hell out of your shell anyways and listen to one. So watch this film. ^_^ Thank you. xD
Not everybody's familiar with this one. It's the Ramones movie, starring the Ramones! and P.J. Soles. P.J. is an ammorous Ramones fan who is trying hard to keep up her fan base, and to get to the concert without her new, BITCH-of-a-principal stopping her and her friends. Kind of corny, but still, it's THE RAMONES!
always entertaining. the ramones acting suck but that is conpensatible by this completely sweet film. hey ho let's go right to the video store and pick this up.

So awful it's wonderful. I watched this a million times in the late 70s and early 80s -- the only pseudo-punk in my junior high -- and know every line, every song.
This movie is a real hoot in the trash 70s John Waters tradition, mixed with respect for classic Rock and Roll band vehicles (Elvis). Bad acting but great performances by the Ramones.
kick ass soundtrack!(not just the ramones,everything at the time)saw this movie when I was 12.it came out a while back on TCM and I made my wife watch it with me.Riff Randle(pj soles) wants to write songs for the ramones.Problem is the principle is a complete byotch with 2 henchmen/hall monitors.So how will Riff see The Ramones in concert,find love and overthrow the high school regime?just watch this movie and enjoy it for what it is!
OH P.J. SOLES....what a jump from Carrie ...i really liked this movie...it makes me want to go out and like dump a hot boiling pot of rock on! over the head of an authority figure....it's kind of like an understated footloose...BUT TASTIER!!
This only gets 1 star because of the music. This movie is hilarious in the worst way. This is really really bad but I laughed through the whole thing. I don't think it's supposed to be funny.
Instead of going to the movies My dad wants me and my friends to see this in my basement. You'd think he'd know that would be even worse tahn all of us going to the movies
