This movie is truly a great action/adventure romance. Kathleen Turner is absolutely beautiful in this movie as the romantic novelist, Joan Wilder looking for love in all all the wrong places until she meets the man of her dreams, Michael Douglas who stars as the rugged adventurer...( read more), Jack T. Colton who finally found love in the most unlikely of places. Besides these two brillant actors Danny DeVito's role is great as well as the not to smart Ralph. This movie shines in all the right places. :) You should absolutely give this a watch!!! :)

Total classic. I love this movie.

A complete waste of talent. There is no reason that this should be as bad as it is. With Robert Zemeckis and Michael Douglas, I would expect more than a lame rip off of Indiana Jones thrown in with romantic comedy. It is such a cheesy movie with a completely predictable plot and ...( read more)almost no originality.

There isn't a lot of substance to this movie, but it is tremendously entertaining and the leads give energetic and lively performances. Very well edited, good cinematography and a very enjoyable screenplay. Excellent pace. Great fun and suspense.

Lame. Liked it when i was a pre-pubescent brat, but i know realise how disposable it is... Bridget Jones & The Temple Of Doom would be a better movie.

douglas and turner excel together again

Great adventure movie. I think it's unfair to compare this to Raider's of the Lost Ark, as Romancing the Stone brings a lot more to the table than just searching for treasure. The cast were all on top form, with great chemistry between a smoking hot Kathleen Turner and a gun-ho M...( read more)ichael Douglas, There's also an entertaining performance from Danny DeVito as the hapless villain. There's plenty of action too, with a memorable mud slide and a great car chase. Romancing the Stone is well worth your rental money.

    I love it!! Really great!!!
  • September 17, 2009
This is without a doubt the best modern romantic comedy of all time. The chemistry between Turner and Douglas is crackling, the characters are all very well defined and executed and the script is smart, funny, exciting, and- of course- romantic.

Rob Zemeckis must have gotten his hands on an early draft of Temple of Doom, or Michael Douglas just wanted to wear the fedora. Either way, the leads have the chemistry of (insert somethings that have no chemistry whatsoever) and the adventure mainly goes nowhere fast.

This movie is sort of a Indiana Jones meets a romance story. Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny Devito all are very good in this and have great chemistry together in the film. Danny Devito was my favorite in the film. A decent story with some action for the guys and roman...( read more)ce for the female audience. Worth checking out.

A great romance/adventure movie with a lot of comedy that I am sure was green-lit because of the success of Raiders of the Lost Ark. There are other people who want that package (which contains a treasure map) and she ends up going to the wrong place in Columbia. Aided by a fellow American she tries to get back to Cartehenga and her sister.

thought it was an ok movie.
  • July 2, 2009
Zemeckis jumped on the Spielberg bandwagon and followed up Raiders with this comical and thrilling take on an adventurer racing through the jungle with a girl in his arms. The film is a great deal of fun and the two main leads don't hold anything back. Still, it's all very silly ...( read more)and dated.

saw it too long ago to remember it

I don't believe that Turner is a novelist or that Douglas is an adventurer. The romance was so corny. Not being a big follower of romance novels, I didn't appreciate the humor or irony that this movie tried to provide.

Kathleen Turner stars as an adventure/romance writer who finds herself on an adventure of her own. Her sister is kidnapped and she goes off to Columbia to find her.

The movie is smart and funny and probably the best adventure movie of the 80's next to Raiders of the Lost Ark. While Douglas and Turner have excellent chemistry. The sequel Jewel of the Nile isn't bad either but no where as good.

Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner make a fantastic pair, in this fun romantic-comedy Romp thru the jungles of Columbia. The chemistry these to actors have resembles that of Bogart and Hepburn. Thuroughly entertaining, yet painfully dated. What was an edge of your seat romantic adventure when I was 10, is now barely enough to keep the kids awake. Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner have amazing chemistry. And there is some nifty peril for our heros. It's enjoyable o...( read more)nly to those of us alive in the 80s.

As far as Indiana Jones rip-offs go, this one isn't too bad. This one is the one that really started Zemeckis on his way. Featuring Turner when she was still hot and Douglas before he became an alligator hand bag. Don't bother with the sequel "Jewel of the Nile".
  • February 23, 2009
    pretty good...VERY cheesy
  • February 22, 2009
Only Michael Douglas film I like. But he's great in this. Though I do keep mixing it and Crocodile Dundee up. Pure adventure.
