From our perverted friends in Denmark comes a hilariously kinky animation adventure, about a young barbarian named Ronal, who goes from slacker to hero in his quest to save his tribe mates, who have been kidnapped by the evil lord Volcazar. I hadn't really heard of this film before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, and boy was I in for something special. And when I say "special", I'm refering to such details as the barbarians walking around in G-strings, the bad guys' affection for S&M, as well as a rofl-worthy segment involving a "flying" ballsack. And that's just to mention a few. Nice animation to boot; maybe not as stunning or polished as that by Pixar and Dreamworks, but very expressive nevertheless and with superb environmental effects (or dynamics as they're called in the industry). As mentioned, there's some definite sexual undertones, along with a great deal of profanity, so you may want to think twice about showing this to your kids. I'm a very liberal person, but even I would probably put them to bed first, if I had any young ones myself. For us older kids, however, there's much to love and enjoy. Pleasantly influenced by some of my favourite games and movies, there are many instances where you go "hey, I recognize that!", but without the need to add "they totally ripped it from another movie!". And then, of course, there's the apparent reference to Conan the Barbarian, which even includes a cameo by Brigitte Nielsen, who does the voice for the lustful Amazon Queen (who even has the same hair cut and everything). A mad, raunchy and wildly entertaining adventure, that I can recommend to all those who likes their animation with some adult humor.
