This is a far out fantasy movie. A kid falls on his arm and can suddenly throw with the big leagues. He falls again and has to win the championship game being a normal kid again.
12 year old Little Leaguer named Henry Rowengartner (Thomas Ian Nicholas) has a dream playing in the major leagues. Henry dislikes his mother's boyfriend named Jack signs on as Henry's manager.
The Chicago Cubs, World Series champs? Ha! It must be a movie. This one brings out the kid in me. Even with some technical inaccuracies, some gimmicky jokes thrown in for kids, and a tiny bit of overacting, the movie is too charming to put down. It realizes every kid's dream of being famous, while still including themes about friendship and growing up and mostly avoiding the cheesiness. Even the adult characters get their own moments, giving parents and my more mature self a little something to enjoy.
Not a bad movie. I liked it. It had a nice message to it and a nice story to it. Dreams do come true - even the improbable ones. I'm talking about the Cubs winning a World Series. One day!
My favorite movie as a child. Tell me it wouldn't be cool to get in an accident and have an amazing ability because of it. I'd dominate in the MLB. Some lame scenes, but cool movie.
This was a lot of fun, but I'll always compare it to another 'fish-out-of-water' kid flick set in the baseball world, "Little Big League". I like the other one better. Still, good fun.
One of many baseball comedies of the 1990's. This one is about a kid who injures his arm, and when it heals has the amazing ability to throw fast balls so gets to be a pitcher in the major leagues. It's a fun movie for kids.
I'm no doctor, but if this can actually happen then cool. If not then it certainly takes away from the story for me. Other than that, its a good movie. If you are into baseball movies, don't miss this one.
Baseball movies seem like a sure thing, combining the drama of the game with positive values. So it's too bad this pleasant film takes the field in the most superficial way. Henry, the worst player in Little League, suffers an injury that miraculousl...
good movie, about a kid that fall ona baseball and breaks his arm, wen the cast is ready to be removed they relise that his tendons have healed to tight and he see that he can throw like a professional baseballer.... good movie that will be very well enjoyed.
One of those movies I don't think I will ever be able to seperate from how I loved it as a kid. I honestly didn't know that Daniel Stern directed the film though. I mean it makes sense.
Although the pretense is absurd, it made me wish I was able to break my arm and have it cast just so and one day, be part of the major leagues. then I remembered I hated baseball. But its still an enjoyable flick for the youngsters and Gary Busey is enjoyably abrasive per usual.
I think every kid who likes sports has dreamed of playing pro ball. This movie allows us to live that dream through a young boy with a gift for pitching who plays with the Cubs. It isn't the most sophistated movie ever made, but it is fun!
