Based on a real person and adapted for Hollywood with a fitting ending. A sad attempt make a film out of a story which should never have become more than a brief mention on one of the more whimsical pages of a local newspaper somewhere. The unfortunate vehicle to bring the leading stars of timeless classic Pretty Woman back together is nothing other than disappointing.
Together again after Pretty Woman, Gere and Roberts join forces in this romantic comedy about a young woman known for having left many lovers at the altar. Julia is a great actress.
At this point they were just trying to beat us to death with Julia Roberts...plot, substance, a point...all these and more were sacrificed...studio suits cared about one thing, and one thing only...shoving Gere & Roberts together again in the hope to cash in. No dice.
Back together again and better than ever. Julia and Richard are the ultimate classic couple. My heart did drop when she left him at the alter but I knew she would be back. I guess it's true...you have to love yourself in order to love someone else.
Gary Marshall's flick about a woman who has shunned being married because she's afraid of the afterglow, is a cute vehicle of Gere and Roberts, playing off each other.
Maggie Carpenter (Julia Roberts) left three men waiting for her in church during wedding day because she is afraid being married nicknamed Runaway Bride. A reporter Ike Graham (Richard Gere) writes a column about Margaret travels to Hale, Maryland to find Maggie lives with her family on her 4th attempt to a football coach is the 4th groom-to-be is Bob. Ike & Maggie agree to marry when Ike run after Maggie but can't catch up. Ike returns to New York to find Maggie makes friends his cat named Italics. Maggie explains to Ike "why she's been running & "turns in" her running shoes" just before proposing to Ike. Ike & Maggie are married outside on the hill their private ceremony on riding away on horseback.
Aw, I've finally seen it, and.. I don't know, I haven't made up my mind about it, it's good, but not as spectacular as I thought it was going to be, when I was 9. :)
The movie convinced most people that everyone should at least respect others position and views on things. Sometimes trivial things may stand in between us and our happiness. In this case it was publicity. So also wisdom will always play a big role in reaching a compromise.
I have loved this film since I was little. It's truly a new aspect of spaztic and really makes you think rationally about the future. Gere always has this sort of charisma about him that paid off very well in this movie. Julia, (who has yet to wow me) did very well on all acounts. Overall one of my favorite romantic comedies and one I will be watching again!
its abt a woman (julia roberts) running away from every wedding and leaving the groom at he alter. but at the end she ended up marrying a guy (Richard Gere)
The story was entertaining! Concerning about the actors, they should?ve not partnered Julia Roberts with Richard Gere or the other way around to freshen up the movie scene., Look, they have already been together in Pretty Woman and that was good., One more thing, I can?t think not to compare Julia Robert?s character with Pretty Woman., Maybe more aggressive on this film., I am not convinced about the story they were in., so, what kind of phobia does Julia Roberts have? And to think, the condition might be weird. sori, this movie is in my worst movies list.
I kinda have to like this movie since it was filmed in my hometown. The barn where the luau is held is my neighbor's house. It's a good movie to remind me of home, and a cute story, but that's it. I'm not a huge chick flick fan.
I didn't think that Garry Marshall could top Pretty Woman but this was a hoot. Joan Cusak and Larry Miller, and Hector Elizondo made the film. Gere and Roberts were delightful but the supporting cast was superb.
I saw this and gagged 500 times. I should have just puked. This is a remake of pretty woman not so shallow. I have nightmares just thinking about how terrible this is.
This is an aalright movie.. but I has it's boring parts.. the most interesting part in the whole thing is when she runs away from the wedding in the FedEx truck.
Just like pretty woman this film goes beyond romance..More on self discovery for Julia that in spite of her previous mistakes she still dream and expect the best including her search for love...
