A lovely sequel to L'Auberge Espagnole (one of my fave movies ever) and continues the story 5 years after where it left off. Here, you see the characters evolved, although not the way I'd have liked them to be. But that's life, and you also get to see Xavier in his quest for true love.

sequel to pot luck, following twenty somethings after the events in first film, and where they have moved onto, xavier again being main focus, as he catches up with rest of gang, nice follow up and engageing story

flilppant and skittish, this brought to mind the Krystof Kyslowski TROIS COULEURS trilogy. Great film of failure, and cliche.

If you liked the first movie (L'Auberge Espagnole), chances are you will love this second film as well. Actually in my opinion this one is much much better!

You've got Xavier who's evolving and slowly figuring out what he really wants out of life and then you have all the other characters who are as charming and attaching as they were 5 years ago.

Cécile de France gives once again a great performance (the lady is hilarious I tell you!) and one of my fave actors in the film has got to be Kelly Reilly. She is amazing! Bravo!

In a nutshell, this is pretty enjoyable even though it may drag at times, BUT it's snazzy in its own way and it all works. So go ahead and rent this, you have absolutely nothing to lose!

I love this film. It is a great sequal to Euro Pudding. This takes you to the moment that you know you need to grow up.

Ahonda más en el tema amoroso, tiene más drama y el personaje llega a conclusiones interesantes, pero aún así no llega al nivel de L'Auberge Espagnole. Además algo le falta al personaje de Xavier, no llega a ser del todo creíble.

I liked The Spanish flat, and I felt Russian dolls only as a marketing choice, hoping in a success. It adds nothing to what was beautifully said in the previous film.

On its own this is a great film. As a sequel it's absolutely fantastic. The 2nd half of 2 of the most all-round-beautiful films ever.

I thought the movie was acceptable, but not that great. The plot was just odd to me, one moment he was sad about his life the next he's heading to a wedding? Just a bit odd to me, also I ended up rather hating Xavier, he just seemed to be sleeping with every girl he met and that was just terrible to me.

A well achieved sequel of The Spanish Apartment. Klapisch made his characters grow and still managed to keep their essence. Great fun, thanks to the sparkling dialogue, entertaining performances and the gorgeous scenery of Paris, London and St. Petersburg.

Better than the first one. I thought this movie captured the struggle that some people find themselves in when they are desperate for love. If anyone said to me what Kelly Reilly says to the protagonist before he leaves in that train I would be insta...(read more)ntly in love. Who loves you for your imperfections?

" I know you're not always perfect. I know you have tons of problems, defects, imperfections... but who doesn't? It's just that I prefer your problems. I'm in love with your imperfections. Your imperfections are just great! [... ] I know most girls they get weak on their knees for what's beautiful, you know, that's all they see, that's all they want. But I'm not like that. I don't just see what's beautiful. I fall for the other stuff. I love what's not perfect. It's just how I am. "

Not sure what makes this movie so very watchable really... But I still find it hard not like it. It's cosy, funny and genuine.

I loved this but it didn't quite match what L'auberge Espagnole was. For those who seek a continuation in the story of the beloved students, it's great, but the same feel just isn't there. It becomes rather monotonous after awhile and your focus strays from general direction of the film to, "Who has Xavier NOT had sex with yet?". Regardless, it's still good and worth a view.

Ok, I didn't see l'Auberge Espagnole, but I know I was not impressed by this one. I mean: it's the kind of movie you more or less enjoy the first time, but wouldn't watch again. Definitely a forgettable one. The cast is good (Romain Duris, Audrey Tautou, Kevin Bishop but mainly Kelly Reilly) but the movie itself... Well, there was some nice character development, some funny bits here and there, some interesting effects, such as Xavier's thoughts shown inside the "real-life". But (it was coming, the "but") there was too much unnecessary nudity in a what seemed to me a desperate attempt to catch the audience's attention and it just gets plain boring at times. Overall, it was quite a waste of time. I definitely could have died in peace without it. I mean, it didn't deserve its place on my "Must see before I die" list.

3.25/5 Quite liked this one, more so that its predecssor The Spanish Apartment. Romain Duris will either give you the shits or be very amiable to you. Lucky for me it was the latter, a good look at relationships in your late 20's.

It wasn't as great as I had hoped it would be. It's as though it wants to be artsy but can't quite get there. The problem perhaps lies in the fact that the 'insight' given in the movie wasn't all that insightful. Besides that, the end, where he actually references the Russian Dolls title seems to be a bit of a stretch considering his story wasn't really about all the women...but more about his relationships with his friends.

Interesting to see Xavier grow a bit but this movie didn't have the same energy or dynamics of L'auberge Espagnole.

This was quite better than its prequel. Probably not the best movie for anyone who's actually under 30.
