-
Trevor Johnston, Time Out
Not unbearably terrible, just thoroughly mediocre.
-
Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times
Robin Williams tricks us into believing he can control his inner maniac beyond the film's first 15 minutes; when he fails, any hopes of RV going off-formula are dashed.
-
Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly
Outsized huckster idiocy...
-
Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter
It probably sounded like a swell idea in the pitch meeting.
-
Justin Chang, Variety
RV works up an ingratiating sweetness that partially compensates for its blunt predictability and meager laughs.
-
Jordan Harper, Village Voice
A workmanlike family comedy with enough pratfalls and poo jokes for tykes and enough sentimentality for parents.
-
Cole Smithey, ColeSmithey.com
Robin Williams hasn't been this funny in many moons.
-
Tim Grierson, Screendaily
A disappointment for both Robin Williams and Men In Black director Barry Sonnenfeld, this vacation-from-hell plotline quickly grows tedious
-
David Nusair, Reel Film Reviews
...never quite as bad as it probably should have been...
-
Frank Lovece, Film Journal International
A genuinely terrific main cast makes it all work within the confines of its all-ages intent.
-
Russ Breimeier, Christianity Today
There are some sequences where you will love the characters and others where you can't stand them. Hmm, maybe RV is close to the real thing after all.
-
James Plath, Movie Metropolis
You keep hoping for Williams to erupt at least once, the way the septic tank does in the film's most disgusting scene, but it never really happens.
-
Stefan Birgir Stefansson, sbs.is
i really hated it
-
Scott Weinberg, DVDTalk.com
This is an ugly, desperate, witless little movie that, even if you happen to like it, will evaporate from your memory in the time it takes to flip the channel.
-
Staci Layne Wilson, Buzzine Magazine
When it comes to this road-trip comedy, the question isn't 'Are we there yet?' It's: 'Is it over yet?'
-
John Beifuss, Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN)
Surprisingly palatable family comedy...
-
Angie Errigo, Empire Magazine
Williams' virtuoso hijinking and Daniels' Huggy Bearish bonhomie save this from complete ignominy, but we've seen it all before.
-
Todd Jorgenson, Denton Record Chronicle (TX)
Of course, it all winds up with absurdly contrived lessons about family bonding, including a climactic soliloquy by Williams that's barely short of laughable.

Without my little review here sounding too cliched this film could be and pretty much is a sequel to the classic Chevy Chase vehicles 'National Lampoon's'.
Its pretty much a by the numbers light hearted comedy set in the wilderness as Robin Williams tries to give his family a fun packed vacation and spent more time with them. Despite being very very predictable and completely unoriginal the film is actually quite amusing and very watchable.
Yes you know what will happen with every setup and yes Williams is being his own 'Clarke Griswold' but damn it its fun. Williams is a likeable fun guy and the family casting isn't too bad either, Hutcherson as a body building obsessed wannabe 'homie' is actually quite funny but Jeff Daniels as the slightly religious, thick tashed rodeo type does grate, his character and family I guess are the 'cousin Eddie' n co of the plot.
Sonnenfeld is a good director of family films and he does a fine job here it has to be said even if the film is nothing new.

R.V is a fairly enjoyable comedy. I didn't expect that the film would be funny, entertaining or good for that matter. But I was pleasantly surprised. Robin Williams and Jeff Daniels are great here, and it's what makes this film work. R.V. is underrated and has good laughs because of the lead. Robin Williams is always a pleasure to watch on-screen, and in this film he brings on good laughs. R.V. is lot of fun, and is a good comedy for what it is. I enjoyed the film, and found that there were some good comedy bits here and there. R.V isn't a great film, but it's far from an awful film. The film is a good for what it is, and it's lots of fun. The film is entertaining and though it's nothing great, I think the film isn't as bad as what many people have claimed it to be. R.V. is an entertaining film that has a decent cast with a good lead, and Robin Williams definitely makes this film work. I enjoyed the film, and It's far better than what many people have claimed it to be. This a fun film to watch, and is underrated in my opinion. The film is much better than you might think. Of course, it's not a perfect comedy, but it definitely is a good one. I've seen worse films than this. R.V. has a good cast that keeps the jokes rolling, and the fact that Robin Williams stars in this is what really makes this film work. A good, fun and entertaining comedy film that shouldn't easily be dismissed.

Not funny or fun, I did not enjoy this, horrible film.
-
I really enjoyed this. A real feel good family film. Quite funny at times too. A must see!
-
Sure, it's full of stupid, unintelligible humor, but at least it's all extremely hilarious!
-
Surprisingly, I liked Jose Hutcherson here more than others. He was the funniest one over here. This movie was great (except the shit thing).
-
A dumb, fun family adventure that is not very satisfying. However it holds enough dumb family laughs to keep anyone intrigued. It is a decent film with a few laughs. I mildly enjoyed it, but there is just something about it that I really like!

That Root canal your dentist talked to you about will seem like a walk in the park after you've watched this movie. The plot was weak, the direction was just sad, and it was all just a confusing mess. The humor was very weak, (though it will probably be enough to satisfy younger children) and it saddens me to see Robin Williams charm wasted in this movie.

One of the best Robin Williams movies, especially here lately. The drama works well enough, but the laughs is where this movie goes into overdrive! About all I can say about it, you need to see it for yourself, which I highly recommend doing!

There is nothing genius about R.V., but despite the negativity surrounding this picture, it is a decent family film.
There isn't much to the story, which is fine for a movie like this. It is straightforward and not incredibly unbelievable.

One of the problems is that, despite the simple story, this family film fails to entertain for the entire hour and 40 minutes. That's not to say that this is a bad movie because it does have its moments. It's just not enough.

A bunch of the comedy comes in the first half of the picture with segments that can create loud laughter. It is the second half that the story kicks in and the comedy slowly fades out. Honestly though, this is not surprising.

The casting for this picture is actually well done. Robin Williams is his usual comedic self, but at times it seems he is holding back the comedy to portray the role of a family man. Cheryl Hines isn't that funny, but she is a fitting wife for Robin. Joanna 'JoJo' Levesque actually portrays a wisecracking teenage daughter quite successfully. Josh Hutcherson does the same as the teenage son. Jeff Daniels and Kristin Chenoweth also show up as another RV family. Funny stuff.

R.V isn't a blockbuster of a comedy and it isn't Robin Williams' best movie. Nevertheless, it is still a decent watch, if only once.

It does entertain but for a very little time, it has some funny moments and jokes maybe 15 minutes in total the rest its just really annoying and ridiculous . The cast including Robin Williams, Jeff Daniels, Joanna "Jojo" Levesque and Kristin Chenoweth is good but the performances not so much, I don't know why Robin Williams accepts this type of roles its just doesn't deserve this. It is really a shame to see JoJo trying to act and Jeff Daniels wasn't in his best roles either. In conclusion, you can watch this movie only if you don't have something better to do or watch.

Robin Williams plays a dad who takes his family on a vacation in an RV with hilarious consequences. Movie also stars Cheryl Hines and Jeff Daniels.

Robin Williams was on sedatives for most of this one, but I think he was trying hard to be the semi-happily married businessman has was casted to be. The kids were just a little over the top but accurate enough examples of their generation. There were great slapstick scenes and some decent toilet humor that owners and renters of RVs can relate to more than others. Avoiding the sweet as pie family was very funny. The way they destroyed the RV at every turn, made me think a little too much about how Robin was going to pay for it especially since he loses his job at the end, but wait, the little Ben and Jerry type owners save the day.
Overall, a good film to pass the time but don't expect this one to be remembered.

Why does everyone bemoan Robin Williams's downward spiral of a career path? All of the collective tears shed on his behalf seem to ignore the fact that he has been in shitty movies since the beginning of his Hollywood oversaturation. For every Good Will Hunting, we have Patch Adams, Bicentennial Man and the Popeye remake. He might have done Birdcage, but he also did License to Wed, Night at the Museum, and Death to Smoochy. And when One Hour Photo and Dead Poet's Society are two of the top five movie successes in a "venerated" career such as his, then there's something seriously amiss. The point is, Robin Williams has done shit-heap after shit-heap, and by virtue of his six or seven good movies, he is forgiven and exonerated for them. Fuck Robin Williams, I say. The man may be talented, but let's not fool ourselves; he can't pick a role for shit.
Also this movie sucks.
-
Pretty lame comedy. Robin Williams has had better roles
-
A somewhat funny comedy, with some gross-out jokes to be endured. I didn't connect with this family as much as the folks in "National Lampoon's Vacation", a very similar film. We get less of a tour of Great America in this one.
