When he meets a friend, he gets a position working in the mansion of a wealthy landowner and his wife. Their beautiful daughter and the young man start an affair that is plagued by his bumbling and shyness. The landlord's wife is ignored by her husband, who spends his time participating in drunken orgies instead of staying home. The teetotaling wife agrees to take a nip to appease her husband, but she soon falls victim to demon alcohol. Her husband manages to change his drinking ways, but the insidious grip of booze has his helpless wife hooked.
