The bloody action is well-paced; but the middle of the story is sloooow. The beautifully-accomplished (surprise) ending, however, totally makes up for it.
A little bit boring sometimes and the story is a mess but in the end everything makes sense. These small flaws are compensated by the beauty of the scenes and also the fight scenes are amazing. The story is sad and depressing but consistent.
this movie is soooo good! it tells the ast of himura kenshin, a hitokiri battosai in active in the ishin shishi of the meiji revolution. i always cry when i see this movie!! you need to see this, especially if you like Rurouni Kenshin!
I am so in love with the Rurouni Kenshin saga. In this OVA, you get to see the dark past of Kenshin that he has been hiding for so long. The story is deep, full of emotion and romantic - that is, if you do not mind the blood and the gore. And I have to mention the killer animation too!
A highly engrossing OVA that spawned a popular series in Japan!! Action, romance, and an addicting story that leaves you wanting more!! My top favorite ANIME!!
The other movie (besides Grave Of The Fireflies) that I show people who hate anime. Tragic and sorrowful with characters that you grow to love. Works really well if you already think Kenshin is cool from the series, but works very well on its own, too.
this movie has the best fighting senes. and it's about Kenshin and his first love Tome and the short life that they shared together. it's so sad and heartfelt! you'll end up feeling so bad for Kenshin( i did at least i cried)
This told a tragic moment of Kenshin's bloody past. It's amazing to see how this is related to the goofy series. The art and story were well done and the voice overs fit the characters nicely.
The absolute best. Many would look at this movie and think of an emphasis on flash, but after watching it you see so much more. A deep story blended with beautiful images makes for a wonderful.
It was a bit gorey - but anyone that knows the history of the Battousi should be expecting that.
Otherwise, it had an excellent plotline which was fuzzy only in one or two places, but it was usually cleared up later. Good character development and dialogue and good fighting scenes. :D
This movie is creepy... but it shows Kenshin's life in-depth before becoming a wanderer... even tho the voice acting sucked, it showed what a disturbing menace he was. Good movie.
The fight scenes are intense and bloody, and the drama is simple, yetremarkable. The soundtrack can also be a little haunting, but all these elements do this OVA credit. A must see for Rurouni Kenshin fans.
the first thing rurouni kenshin based i ever saw... it was truly tragic... and altho some parts didnt make sense at the time, after watching the series it all fell into place
This is such a great movie. It is a great dramatic samurai movie that reminds you of the old days when movies were about heroism and stuff like that. I really love the action and the emotions brought by this movie.
