    Satan's Playground (2005)
Written and Directed by Dante Tomaselli.
With Felissa Rose, Ellen Sandweiss, Edwin Neal, and Irma St. Paule.

A family car breakdown in the New Jersey Pine Barrens leads to an unpleasant encounter with madness, murder, satanists and a carnivorous flying mutant.

When the Bruno's family station wagon gets stuck in the God-forsaken absolute middle of nowhere, they foolishly venture out in search of help one by one. Their steady procession to the front door of a madwoman's (St. Paule) dilapidated house turns out to be a smörgåsbord for her, and her deranged family of sadistic, degenerate lunatics. Asking to use the phone, they each discover in turn that Satanists are in the habit of using the woman's backyard for ceremonial sacrifices -but that is just the beginning of their tribulations.

Because the TV is out, torture, murder, and herding the "guests" into hidden pits of backyard quicksand are the primary forms of local entertainment. Then there's that mysterious flying thing with a taste for blood.

This film has a simplistic, straightforward storyline, another variation of the old Texas Chainsaw Massacre theme, but more entertaining in my opinion. The filmmakers did a remarkably good job with their limited budget. The non-mainstream actors perform as well as any big Tinseltown stars. Satan's Playground has the sort of scenes, shots and angles that would leave a certain lasting impression if you were to see it as a youngster. Better than a standard grade B horror flick, I heartily recommend the movie to it all fans of mass-produced horror and "camp."
