private ryan is nice movie they have heart and interesting story... i like it to watch and i enjoy it.... but i wish not to happen in real life..........
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It really shows us how war is. War is a place where sacrifice is a must. Tom Hanks did an amazing work in this movie. Many respects to the soldiers fighting for their country. 5 stars to this great movie.
oneround, if u knew anything bout the army, u would know that sargents have more experience and the bipod legs were often left on the wpn so that if the wpn needed to be used in a static defensive position it could
Game, since this was a PR mission, it is feasable that a Cpt. would be sent out. Now if you really want to get picky, from a veterans point of view, get down on the true innacuracies. Walking in enemy territorry talking loud like they were doing will get you dead real quick. Why are all the automatic weapons carriers not using their bipods? I wouldnt want them covering me, likely miss the enemy and shoot me in the back!. And this jive walking around on top of ridges, making themselves perfect targets for the enemy?, and those are just a few things I noticed. They must have either ignored or had a lousy technical advisor for this one. Spielbeg just wanted to make a war flick. The cowardly individual and Spielberg saying he could relate to this character pretty much sums up the contempt I have for the political line he took in this film, and kissing butt to the ww2 generation to sell this movie is contemptable, they deserve better. Band of Brothers was better...
I agree with the last poster that this was hanks best role. after watching saving private ryan I thought of my father and how he never spoke of the war and only one time he did it was just to say when he got home there were hardly any "men left". Band of Brothers(the hbo show) was awesome, it showed of will and fortitude these young men had. I dont know if there will ever be another generation like the ww2 generation. thank god for them, their all gone..
one of the best movies of the actor Tom Hanks...his charector show us how the real man behave at the emergency moments....for what we live if we have no aim ...his aim saving the young solieder while he was losing control on his life ...but he did his duty...the best role he did it
A Captain (Hanks) would never be sent on a mission commanding only 7 Soldiers. Captains usually command a Company, which most of the time consists of 2 Platoons. A Staff Sergeant is the perfect Commanding Officer for a 8-Men Mission. Also, one of the Soldiers in the group (Sizemore) is a Segeant First Class, They normally are Senior Assistant Officer's for a Platoon's Commading Liutenant. Sorry Spielberg, But Captains are way too high in rank for this type of mission and a Sergeant First Class wouldnt be assigned as Assistant in this situation.
R = Repair/Recognition/Reason/etc..
I salute to all those soldiers - American, British, Canadian

Hi Everyone
Does anybody know what foobar means from the script?
I think it's a great film but very truamatic to watch.
True to the life (and death) in war. This is probably without doubt the best WWII picture ever put on film. Acting, story, realism (very violent, but I said realism),
and just plan tops! If you die and don't see this film you may have missed a look into what our soldiers real endured in this terrrible war. Plus Tom Hanks in his top performance of his career. second honors to Tom Sizemore
There is nothing in this movie that deserves a thumb's down. It's acting, cinematography, John William's music, even though its fiction, it nevertheless captures the life and hell of the soldiers in World War 2.
A Great film.
This movie is my favorite, I even memorized the squad name's because this is such a good movie! I saw it for the first time in 2004, as a birthday present, 60th commemorative edition! Cpt. Miller, Sgt. Horvath, Cpl. Upham, T/4 Medic Wade, Pvt. Melish, Pvt. Reiben, Pvt. Jackson, and Prv. Caparzo.
1 of my favourite movies of unreal i found da bit at da end wen da germans r just about 2 over run da bridge n da bois shot n lyin on da ground shootin at da tnk wif is service pistol very confusin bt den 2 seconds wen da tank blew up i fought he blown it up bt den da planes flew over sum excelent tactics deplod in real life like stickn da bombs on da tracks of da tank
one of favs of all time 10 out of 10 classic everything about this movie is soo great classic
cant believe this film was nt an 18! made as near to real life events as they could and did nt glorify it as just another war film with a ton of special effects
