This movie was pretty stupid. The ending was really dumb, and I'm not sure if it is such a great idea to make the serial killer "the hero" in a horror movie. Also, the guy has a brain tumor and becomes "wickedly smart". That makes sense. Also, why would you saw off your foot off, if you wanted to go save somebody (how did he know the door was unlocked and the guy wasn't just down the hall?). Also, wouldn't that guy at the end be able to feel around and find the tub's drain pipe and escape?
DEFFINETELY WILL NEVER SEE IT> There is no point to filling your head with murder and horror. IT only gives you images you wish you didn't have in your head. As they say junk in junk out.
this one was actually pretty disappointing now that i look back... wasnt to scary at all! but it did however show how it all got started so i will give it some credit!
Ok, so I finally watched this. I don't like the torture / exploitation subgenre or horror, but this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Very average affair, really. I don't understand what everyone was creaming their jeans over.
AWESOME MOVIE ITS BETTER THAN ALL OF THEM HAHA AND ITS ABOUT....... A young man named Adam wakes to find himself chained to a rusty pipe inside a decrepit subterranean chamber. Chained to the opposite side of the room is another bewildered captive, Dr. Lawrence Gordon Between them is a dead man lying in a pool of blood, holding a .38 in his hand. Neither man knows why he has been abducted, but instructions left on a micro cassette order Dr. Gordon to kill Adam within eight hours. If he fails to do so, then both men will die; Dr. Gordon's wife, Alison, and his daughter will also be killed. Recalling a recent murder investigation by a police detective named Tapp, Dr. Gordon realizes he and Adam are the next victims of a psychopathic genius known only as "Jigsaw." With only a few hours left to spare, they must unravel the elaborate puzzle of their fate in the midst of mounting terror. The killer has provided them with only a few clues and two handsaws--too weak to break their steel shackles, but strong enough to cut through flesh and bone.
It was very good and the twist was amazing but I'm just such a wimp that I probably couldn't watch it again. Actually I probably could watch it in the day with someone else.
I can never forget the one and true time I was both scared, over-joyed and ecstatic all at the same time. This film is so original and just so amazing, too hard to explain why this is so. Films that confuse you are truly the best that can be found.
Best horror movie I have ever watched. This movie was brilliant. The games are smart. He finds ways for the victims to kill themselves. That is so smart. I've seen this movie so many times. I never get sick of it.
Worthless movie, worthless cast, worthless writing, and worthless direction.
All of you that find this film original, I laugh at you. How the hell this movie spawned what is soon to be 4 sequels is beyond my comprehension. Violence galore, and with a culture going to hell, that adds up to be "entertainment".
I hate this movie, every single aspect of it pissed me off. I am a worse person for watching this. Saw is pathetic in all sense of the word.
It was fairly original for an American horror flick. The series has lost any flare it once had, though. It has become torture porn for giddy high school miscreants.
Cary Elwes somehow managed to unlearn whatever small amount of acting knowledge he posessed before making this film. This genre of "violence-porn", as I've heard it described, has gotten old very quickly and it all began here...with Saw, which gets worse and worse with every sequel, destroying whatever legacy this decent first one had.
Although the acting was not as strong as it could be, this was still an excellent film - setting new trends in the horror genre. I felt that Cary Elwes could've done better, but Tobin Bell was the perfect choice for Jigsaw. Poor Danny... never saw it coming. Oh well!
America's version of Asian shock horror... and directed by an Asian... gotta love that...but anyway, its a fairly original movie and there is a good plot.
