Not quite as good as the first scary movie, but still hilarious. Some of the humour in it is a bit disgusting but I'd still put it down as one of my favourite comedies.
I could say every scene in this movie gave me such a laugh. There are a lot of funny things. The actors look funny themselves. Moreover their performances are perfect. lol
How come Cindy can be so sincere, at the same time easily become stupid.
Directed by: Keenen Ivory Wayans. Starring: Anna Faris, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Regina Hill, Chris Elliott, Tim Curry, Kathleen Robertson.
<< "How is she?"..."It's gotten worse Father. She won't eat, she won't talk, the child won't let me touch her"..."Yes, sometimes you have to give them candy." >>
The story follows a very familiar group of teens (with a few add ons) who are all survivors of the massacre of the first film and are now in college. When a teacher hears word of there near death experiences, he feels they are the best people to be used to bring out a poltergeist in Hell House, a house believed to possessed. So he tricks them all into thinking it is a school project to get them to enter the house.
Clearly Scary Movie 2 is a rushed job. Its common when a film comes out that does so well and is easily a set up for a franchise...but not even a year after the first film was released, this was financed and in production, which isn't great for a big studio film. As much as I love to always blame the Hollywood system, I can't entirely in this case, as it isn't all there fault...because what the Wayans have produced here, even if it is rushed, is really badly done...a majority of the time.
This time around, they do pick a better range of classic horror flicks but not necessarily ones that always work or needed to be spoofed. What made the first very strong was its sharp, witty and vulgar humor, and a lot of thought and brilliant comedic timing for the gags...this film not only lacks that wit and sharp writing for the most part, but it ups the vulgarity and just ends up being more gross then funny and very convoluted and dragged out...a lot of it falls flat and is badly edited and has some of the worst continuity I've seen in a film (just had to throw that in there). There is really only one core joke (and character) that works quite well for the first half of the film and it still has me chuckling every time I see him...the caretaker.
Not much to say about the performances. What charm and essence Anna Faris had in the first film is lost here and she simply comes across as a light headed bimbo who falls flat on everything she is given. Chris Elliott is good for laughs thanks to his character and that is really about it...and the fact that Tori Spelling is even in another film makes me cringe.
Horribly rushed by the studios, the Wayans brothers lose it this time around with the help of the rush, but they don't help themselves either. Aside from some scattered laughs that hit and a better use of horror films the Wayans don't tackle it from the right angle and takes the vulgar humor many steps to far and the overall effort is neither coherent or consistent, nor much of a spoof. A letdown sequel that shows just what Hollywood can do when they fast-track a sequel for more money.
I've seen worse "horror" parodies. Several. I should say just the fact that this is better than Student Bodies and Full Moon High is quite remarkable. Don't mistake me- I'm not saying it's great. But several parts are funny. And much of the cast is good. Anna Faris is wonderful and hilarious as usual, Tori Spelling is one brave girl- she does perhaps the most disgusting things in the movie. Her and James Woods, who is slumming here, but I just have to say- he's doing it so damn well. And Tim Curry's in this movie! Yeah, having been in both horror movies (IT and Rocky Horror Picture Show) and goofball comedies (Oscar and Rocky Horror Picture Show - tee hee). And the brother of that guy from That 70's Show, who's also in Malcolm in the Middle is great (and hot!) here as well, as Anna Faris's clueless would-be boyfriend.
o my damn i love this movie. scary movies are like my life so when the put a bunch of them together and add humor its the bomb!!!!! if you are a funny person than u should totally see this movie but the best out of the series is scary movie 4.
No se porque se insite en seguir creando estos filmes, este aun era pasable y ya empezaba a ser malo pero las continuaciones son de lo peor.
Satiras bastante malas.
Sure it's the worst of the four, but still plenty of fun to watch. The storyline is a little more messed up, but there are some good laughs that make up for it :)
This is definitely my least fav out of the 4, but it still has some pretty funny moments. U gotta love Cindy & Brenda, and while it was a bit random, see it for a laugh.
My absolute favorite one of the whole series. i loved scary movie 2 i loved the little details that were included in it it was just so good. the sequels to this were no where in the same league. and 4 just sucked badly
