Sill my all time favorite scary movie! Wes Craven definetely put horror movies back on the charts with this one.
It starts off immedietely & it is very quick paced. I loved all the brilliant cast, especially Lillard, with his goofy attitude & smart assed remarks. It definetely had it's gore, but also a few good laughs.
I think the storyline, has almost two different stories to follow, which is kinda fun. Also liked how they spoofed a few of the older classic horror movies.
I would reccomend it, especially with the Halloween season in toll!
Ditto: "It pulls off a couple of pretty nasty jolts, but the assumption that there's something inherently clever about a slasher movie making reference to both its genre and the filmmaking process is a fundamental flaw of this horror/comedy."
The opening scene alone makes the film perfect to watch on Halloween.
Scream reinvents the horror genre while making fun of it. It's the only horror movie I could ever watch over and over again. It's fresh and funny and I love the cast. The beginning alone is classic.
A lot of the cast members have their most memorable roles here. David Arquette for instance is more likeable here and less annoying than he is in movies that followed this. While I loved Neve Campbell for a long time after these movies lol.
Late 90s teen-horror films somewhat ruined the genre.. because we put "teen" in front of it. Yes its a teen horror movie and that makes it kind of lame. If you want a good horror movie, this one isn't the one should rent out. But if you must I won't stop you, you may very well enjoy it.
It's a horror movie that's both intentionally smart and intentionally dumb, which puts it in a league of its own. And after rewatching this I seriously think THIS is the real movie to point the blame at for all the awful parody films we are seeing now, not Scary Movie (though those movies did make the intentionally dumb stuff popular). I've developed the same relationship with this movie as I have with The Matrix thanks to parodies and imitators. But this one doesn't stand the test of time nearly as well as The Matrix. It all started with this film, it's just that all the imitators have lost the "intentionally smart" part of the formula.
A slasher movie that's a parody of the 1980's slasher films. Just like in horror movie series like Friday the 13th & Halloween, there's this killer (it's accually two guys) who's motive is because they've seen one too many horror movies. Like Jason and other killer's have their trademark masks, the guy in this movie wears the ghostface costume (at the time, and it still is, the most famous halloween costume thats not a mask based after Freddy Krueger's face). Scream is Wes Craven's best and most original movie since A Nightmare on Elm st. The man who helped creat the slasher genre is now rebooting it over a decade later.
PAN AND SCAN. Entretiene y genera suspenso, pero se pasa con la autoparodia al género: diluye el horror demasiado. / Entertains and generates suspense, but overdoes the genre selfparody: it dilutes the horror aspect.
very entertaining..a great slasher film which at the same time parodies slasher films. Every slasher film cliche you can think of is in this, but all the cliches get turned around..just watch it and you'll see what i mean
This Movie is a Classic. Very Scary. Neve Campbell played in this movie really well. Everyone should see this movie. Its worth the time if you love to be scared.
A really believeable scary movie that left me a little scarred. Then Halloween came along, everyone was out in the white masks and the movie lost its effect on me. Still a pretty good horror.
Anyone who likes horror's should see this. Quite a gory, suspensefilled horror that pretty much explains how a horror works. I didn't find it that scary but it's still entertaining
