I loved the King book that it was taken from but unfortunately this is a weak adaptation.

I have always wanted to see Secret Window; when a movie has such varied and mixed reviews it is always intriguing to see the movie itself and find out which side of the line you sit on. I recently viewed Secret Window with a friend from the safety of my own home. It's only a shor...( read more)

From Stephen King's short story, Secret Window was a surprisingly enjoyable movie - I'm not sure if it was "good" or not, though. Personally, I readily connect with the frustrated writer figure, and the film's early-going was just more than enough to keep me interested. Then it s...( read more)

I wasn't expecting this ending. Johnny Depp plays a writer with severe writer's block. Some help in unblocking him suddenly presents itself.

It's actually one of the best Stephen King stories in the fact that it's actually different than his other typical works. He writes way better stories when they're one person centric, you just get more of a connection with the character and don't feel so jerked around. Johnny Dep...( read more)

Critic Reviews
The story is so basic that it makes a fine template for an exercise in style, and Koepp layers on the details with great relish. full review
[Depp] turns Secret Window into a pleasantly show-offy showcase for his own charisma. full review
An eerie, playful thriller and an all-around entertaining time at the movies. full review
Somewhere in the middle of [King's] range storywise, and toward the top in Depp's performance. full review
A potent psychological thriller bolstered by strong performances and an offbeat sense of humor. full review
Hitchcock would have loved it. full review

August 29, 2009Very good! I didn't read the book but I like the movie without doubt. And Johnny Depp is great, he's such a good actor, one of my favourites.
The twist in the end is very good, really surprising. It's a little like Hide & Seek.

January 22, 2009I think the Super Review saying mis-spelled Hitchcock is the best is mistaking this for a remake of Rear Window.
