A former conservative and adolescent preacher who eventually gravitated to the gay theater community of Los Angeles, Lance Corporal Jeff Key has always been proud of his country. Still, at the age of thirty-four, he was beginning to feel as if something was missing from his life. As a result, he joined the Marines. Though the recruiter bent the rules slightly to accommodate the enlistee's age, Key was forced to keep his homosexuality a secret. Later, when a pair of passenger planes struck the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, Key was deployed to fight in Iraq. In the wake of the now-notorious "Mission Accomplished" fiasco, however, Key gradually begins to suspect that the War on Terror has gone horribly awry, and struggles to stay in line with the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy while constantly surrounded by hot Iraqi soldiers. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
