it's all fate & destine.if u r meant to b tog eventually u'll mt & tog even though it's after so many yrs.. at times it jux so hard to believe in fate though.. but faith willhelp i suppose..
It's a 2 hour advertisement for the novel 'Love In the Time of Cholera' by Gabriel Garciá Márquez, but it's well worth seeing. This was the first movie I ever saw Kate Beckinsale in and she's charming here. There is no disguising her lovely accent in this one and John Cusak brings nothing less in his acting to this romantic comedy-drama. They have two quirky best friends played by Molly Shannon and Jeremy Piven (who seems to play EVERYONE's best friend in every movie...but that's because he seems like a guy you could have a beer with.
You won't be able to help falling in love with the whole cast in this love story with "Oompf". Trust me on this one, guys - I would not steer you to see a bad chick flick. If your girlfriend wants to rent this one, GET IT!
The story is about a chance meeting by a man and a woman who keep having unusual things happen to them during their meeting - things that would indicate fate has a hand in all of it. Sara (Beckinsale) is one of those head-in-the-clouds types that believes in fate and destiny and won't settle for anything less. John Cusak's character, Jonathan, is a little more realistic. Sara seems to think Jonathan is a little too overzealous about asking her out during their first meeting so she tries to convince Jonathan to tempt the hand of fate with her. She says she will write her number in the book she has in her purse ('Love in the Time of Cholera') and she will return it to a used bookstore somewhere in the city. If he finds it, then he can call her. She taunts him and plays hard-to-get but then, they are accidentally separated...and Sara realizes she made a mistake playing games. Jonathan is also devastated that he lost his chance with this amazing British girl with her strange, quirky views on destiny. He searches for the copy of the book she wrote her name on to no avail.
He is forced to go on with his life and Sara moves on with hers. They end up in other romances, but can't stop thinking of each other...The story line follows much in the vein of the book it echoes, only John Cusak is no man-whoring Florentino Ariza and destiny intervenes a little sooner than it does in 'Love'. It's also a movie shot around the holiday season, so it's a good one to watch during the Christmas season. Check it out. I promise you that it isn't an insipid romantic comedy. It's got genuine laughs, a fun plot, and very likeable leads.

It is one of the most chick flicked John Cusack movies ever made. Makes you wish you could find your true love by chance as these two lovers did. Such a wonderful movie to wrap your arms around your love one while watching this film!
A beautiful movie about life and its "fortunate accidents" or serendipity. John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale really have good chemistry. Perfect date movie for people who believe they really meant to be with that special someone.
