the movie is really great,if you haven't saw it you should, first I wasn't interested but my brother convince me to first watch the tv show that inspired the movie (both produce by Joss Whedon) and I can say that the movie is like the tv show it's fantastic :D
Spectacular. A mind-blasting good time. A masterpiece. Director and creator Joss Whedon has crafted a new breed of adventure from his classic short-lived tv series Firefly. A tremdously entertaining,nail-biting and thrilling instant sci-fi classic. A hip, funny and action-packed thrill-ride. The story is brilliant and the excitement is non-stop. The most original film in years. This makes Star Wars look like puppy chow. A great cast of actors who do a an acceptable job. Nathan Fillion gives a breakout performance. A totally enjoyable adventure that you can not get enough of. Awsome action sequeces and great humor. Stunning, thrilling and breathtaking. An unforgettable and exhilerating adreniline-rush.
I was really looking forward to this film and I can't say I was disappointed. This is one of the better sci-fi films out there and I will definitely check out the short lived TV series Firefly after this. Also one thing I didn't expect in this film was how good the drama was, I was expecting a kind of Riddick type Sci-fi flick, but instead there is a great story and good acting and the script is pretty solid (except for the choice few lines probably adopted from being used to writing scripts for TV... aka really cheesy). Though that is not to say the action isnt good, some scenes are really kick ass!
It was very different from what I thought it'd be. It was good, tense and a little bit funny. Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyuk were the ones I recognized from other stuff and they were good ^^ The others did a great performance aswell. Summer Galu were weird, and why did she looks so scary almost when she fought? x'D
Awesome sci-fi action film set two months after the last Firefly episode. The special effects are good and the chemistry of the cast just clicks. Its hard to believe the show only lasted about eight episodes shy of a true full season. Fillion's Captain Mal Reynolds is reminiscent of Han Solo and Buckaroo Banzai from previous decades. You dont have to see the series to get into this movie but it helps. Cant wait for a straight to Dvd sequel. Good job.
This is a good movie. Perfectly cast, excellent effects, and characters as unique as the actors who played them. The fight scenes in this movie are less of an actual battle but more of a dance.
I have to seriously wonder, was it FOX's intent to shoot themselves in the foot when they Canceled Firefly?
I had known next to nothing about the show when it was actually on, It had been put on against Farscape which I had already become invested.
But in October of 05, I went to see this movie and instantly wanted more. Because of this I also now own the Firefly Series on DVD and am proud to call myself a Browncoat.
Universal, should you read this, we need at least, AT LEAST, two sequels...
I never really watched the show, but now that I've seen the move I want the series on dvd! Joss Wedon is awesome. And why not, he made Buffy & Agnel. And gotta love Nathan Filion as Mal & Mr. Baldwin as Jayne. Totally great.
A must see even if you missed the amazing Firefly TV series. It will keep you on your toes and I've never seen a film that captures and modernizes a cowboy better than this.
As a HUGE fan of the cancelled TV show "FIREFLY"...I was on top of the world when Serenity came out.....Thank you Joss for giving us what we needed....closure...but guess what Joss....I WANT MORE!!!!!!! Fantastic film!!!!!
Go Joss! This is a great film, though the series is even better. I'd recommend watching Firefly the TV series before watching this movie... but do it! Do it now! Watch them both!
i absolutely ADORE summer glau!!! she is such an amazing actress!!! her face!! how can she keep such a strait face?!?!?!!? i watched firefly for a long time. (it started as a tv show.) i really love all the cast!!! "i am a leaf on the wind---watch how i soar!" -wash. lol!
Extremelly overrated. This action-packed sci-fi film has the same quality as the T.V. series "Firefly". It has nothing special in it, nothing new, nothing original. Dissapointed and I was bored at some parts. The best part of the film is the fight scene with River at the bar and the opening scene which was a single shot. Nothing more.
Blisteringly entertaining and wonderfully unique, Joss Whedon's SERENITY may have been born from a (wrongfully) failed TV series, but is one of the cleverest, crankiest, wittiest, wildest, and most character-driven sci-fi adventures I've ever seen. I love the world it creates, the people who populate that world, and the words that spill out of those peoples' mouths when they're not running away from lunatics or blasting their way through assassins.
Obviously I'm a huge fan of the show, but for all you newbies who've never heard of Firefly, seeing the show is not a must for this movie. Serenity has action, comedy, mystery, adventure, thrills, chills, and a whole lot more. But deep down under the surface slickness and the well-wrought characters, there's a deeply satisfying and thought-provoking foundation of staunch sci-fi storytelling.
Nathan Fillion (Mal) rascally portrays one of the most intriguing, conflicted, and fascinating heroes ever created and the delicate Summer Glau (River Tam) steals scene after scene with her sweetness, her vulnerability, and her amazing ass-kickery.
This movie infuses your classic sci-fi concepts with all sorts of Western motifs, Far East influences, character-based comedy, and just a whole lot of gee-whiz gadgetry. The concept here is that Serenity takes place in the future, inside of a not-too distant solar system. As new colonies pop up on all sorts of planets, some of 'em get absorbed by the alliance and become all gleamy and shining, while the colonies a bit further out are forced to live much like our own forefathers did: In cabins, on horses, and packing revolvers. And just like that: You've got your Western in my Science Fiction ... and it tastes great!
Un très bon film de science fiction! Très bien réalisé.. l'action et l'histoire est bonne! J'aurai apprécié en savoir un peu plus sur le background de cet univers.
